MUNSON'S PLAYS

If I had been playing, these are what I would bet. I've quit cold turkey, but am willing to post in the hope that the therapeutic effect will benefit my psyche. I do not advocate indulging in any illegal activities and am not condoning gambling. I am simply using information that is readily available and posting it here for amusement only. Maybe JHU Dad can help me on the disclaimer.:doh1

I will explain the methodology and the abbreviations later, I am on my way out of the apartment, but these are the two I would have played when I was an active gambler.

PHI/hou U52 (-105)X

teaser PHI -1.5/NYG pk (-110)Z

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

The only problem I have with you doing this is

What happens if you come up with the best winning streak of your life during the next 3 to 4 months?

So if you lose, you feel like you lost. BUT if you win you actually lose since you dont win the money. I call these "Mind bets" The only thing you really lose is your mind.

That's not how I'm looking at it, TN. I feel that if I lose, I lose nothing in reality except maybe some credibility, I guess. I can't afford to lose money, though, and I won't lose that. If I win, I gain even more confidence in my methods and show my buddies here a way to get ahead. If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow, but still be able to make my support/mortgage/rent payments. Still have the teaser alive for a unit. All plays 1 unit unless specified.

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

I hate taking anything between +7.5 and +9.5 for the exact reasons that the teasers at that price are so good, Tim. Texans defense is horrendous, and the overrule on the 3rd and long killed the +9, although they may have gone for it. Sorry I missed the other teaser possibilities, but what's done is done. Now, we have the Giants at a pick for a unit, so it's not all bad news.

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

I always play Wong teasers, so that covers the PHI -1.5/NYG pk teaser. Jazz pays ties as winners, so the -2 becomes -1.5 and the -1 on NYG converts to pk. The under tonight was a play from one of my oldest systems. I always play under on any total of 47<. This has netted many units over the years, and I will try to provide the results for 2010 on each of the angles I would have played. Again, this is all an exercise, I am not betting anything, and am only tracking what I would have bet in the past. Therefore, no money at stake, only units, and I will keep track whether up or down.

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

I thought Philly was a great teaser bet and could be hooked with either the Giants or Saints. Thought the spread was a real toss-up. I guess even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.

Munson, are you pulling all of your $ out of your offshore accounts. That should keep you busy for 6 weeks at least.

Funny, Tim, I carry no large balances at this time and am considering whether or not to close some.:cheers

This thread should generate some great discussion and hopefully some winners!

I was on the under also, but more importantly I needed the Eagles to win to stay alive in a suicide pool where there's only 2 of us left!!

Looking forward to tonight's plays/discussion...

Wow, nice situation, Finance. Are you guys talking about splitting the pot? After he survives the weekend, of course.:LMAO

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

I might initiate that discussion if he wins his game - we have it set up on Yahoo Sports and the deadline for picking your team isn't until Sunday, so I won't be able to see who he picked until kickoff - I do know that he didn't have the Eagles....what sucked was that he took Cleveland against Carolina last week and Kasay doinked the FG at the end....

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

Wow, you should already have won. Anyway, Finance, I hope to do well in this thread, but it could just as easily be an exercise in futility. I'm actually surprised that Beaner hasn't come in and flamed me for losing that total last night.:LMAO

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

BTJIM can you document your assertion that "black qbs dont like cold weather"? before mike vick's excellent adventure started both r cunningham and d mcnabb established strong records in philly

BTJ and documentation should never be used in the same sentence. Our resident racist loves to denigrate African-Americans.

Thanks, John, it eliminates confusion for me as I have accounts (currently unfunded) at Betjam (J), Bookmaker(B) and the Greek(G).

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

I used to play all the double digit dogs in the NBA and did well there. Also, I always made sure to play JK's blog picks, 30-in-30 picks, etc. So...........

JK=UTA/dal U193(-110)K
DD=min +12.5 (-110)K
sac +13 (-110)K

I don't know what you mean?

I bet the game under 53 at a small book that must have had a lot of over money and wanted some under money. I don't know how many bettors were able to go under 53, but I'm sure there were not too many. Under 53 when 1 of the top books ended up with 51 looks great, but it doesn't mean a thing because the game went over.

Didn't this game open less then 50?

If this game opened lower then 50 then both bets had value. And that is the point. You still need to bet the right side and try to get the best line you can get. That is the only thing the line does. It desides wether you win or lose. The way the line moved is pretty MEANINGLESS unless you are betting bad lines.

There is no point to be made.

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

I used to play JK's selections for 2 units, but for the purposes of this exercise, I'll call everything 1 unit.

Saturday, 12/4

JK=N Iowa +3.5 (-105)D
Gonz +2 -(-105)P
Corn +17.5 (-107)H
N Mex St +6 (-102)D
Wich St +8.5 (-102)D

Took a beating on those last 2 and missed a key number on Gonzaga. Glad they're only one unit.:+textinb3

Re: MUNSON'S PLAYS

Thanks for posting these, Munson. It will be especially interesting to see what numbers you get on JK's plays. I follow all of his plays as well, and I will be curious to see if you pass on big line moves. Your card looks similar to mine following JK today. I got a little better on N Mex St and Wich St, but I didn't get JK's original posted number.
