Need Explanation on article from Front Page.

I have read the story but I still don't comprehend the ending.

The article about the guy hitting the parlay cards is a little confusing. It appears that he hit (4) of the cards for a total payout of $400,000, yet he ONLY collected $300,000.

Could someone please explain the confusing payout situation.
