That sucks but understandable. I assume a proxy is allowed though? Any issues with the sportsbooks or is it just one of those unwritten and accepted things?

I signed up for the Super Contest at the Westgate when I was in LV for my bowling tournament. You have to register in person, and the proxy has to meet you and do their registration work at the book at the same time. For me, it was an easy process. About a month before my trip, I reached out, and set up an appt to meet at the Westgate at 10am. I used http://footballcontest.com/ The sportsbooks are set up for proxies. I wish I would have known about the circa contest prior, seems for the money invested vs payout a much better deal. But in any case, I'm set for the Westgate.

Derek Stevens (the owner) mentioned on the VSIN show "Betting Across America" on Sunday morning that they (Circa) took a beating - - all the money on the Bruins in hockey, the bettors had the right side on the soccer game, and in baseball the book won the Twins game and then lost the next 9 baseball games. He said it was interesting to have action on all the games, implying, except for rare occasions (every first round game of the NCAA Basketball Tournament), that of course he doesn't as a bettor.

He has said previously that he has always wanted to run (own) a sports book. Now he does (own it -- doesn't run it, but I'm sure he has input).
Mike palm was on follow the money this morning. Mentioned they took in $833k in wagers and lost $125k.

Said the biggest bet game saturday was the brewers and pirates which had $87k in bets.

On sunday the brewers and pirates game had a total of $400 in bets.

going to be tough sledding booking sharps at big limits while getting very little in the way of recreational handle beyond the usual 25 dollar 8 team parlay downtowners. how long will they last getting their teeth kicked in before going the way of most other books in town

you old timers Correct me if i am wrong but Binions main garage even in the 90's charged for parking. You could validate the ticket yourself though by the stamper machine that was on the counter of the casino cage.

It will be a slow summer for them. Once football starts then we'll get a real idea of how they'll
do. Expect a rough first year as the bulk of the handle will be via the app and from a sharper than
average crowd. They plan on going 24 hours once football starts including the app and kiosks.

The SuperContest and SuperContest Gold, the Golden Nugget Ultimate Football Challenge, and the new Circa Sports Million Contest all expressly allow proxies in their rules (for years running for the SuperContest), which I believe are reviewed by gaming at some point in the process.

It's not a winky-winky thing, Weinke.

Believe that you're right, as best as I recall it was that way when I was a tourist bettor in the mid 90's and when I moved out here in '03.

Never gave it much thought though because you could just self-validate at the cage.

Not sure that I'm old timer though, but . . .

My favorite place to park downtown in the EL CORTEZ garage.

FREE with slot card OR if you're over 50

Always spaces available and quick, quick access directly into the casino.

. . . it's good to know that I can free park for being over 50, I've been bringing my old El Cortez player's card that is so old that it has a picture of Jackie Gaughan on it. Now I know that I instead can just smile and wave as I go by.

Were you there for the "opening"? Do you plan on entering their NFL contest and skipping Westgate's?

I was there for the opening. Talked to a lot of people that morning while in line betting and getting set
up with the app. The app is same software as CG and they have two betting kiosks as well.

I'll play Circa contest along with Westgate Gold. Won't play the SuperContest though.
I think it's a good idea to send Westgate a message. The fees/rake in the SuperContest
might not prevent them from being the most popular contest but it doesn't make them
the best.

Excellent advice
Stay clear of the WG SUPERCONTEST

I got into the WG Supercontest, before Circa made their announcement. Kinda wish I had waited.

Do you think the WG will change anything after the fact, i.e., eliminate their take out to compete with the Circa?

WG won't change this year and only will during future years if they see their contest slipping while Circa's contest is gaining.

Hopefully the well-known proxies and ViSN help to spread the word about Circa's contest.

VSIN is going to be a big help. Mike Palm the VP of the sportsbook is a weekly guest on the show. They need to keep mentioning how the contest is a 100% payback with up to 3 entries allowed. Plus the ability to input the weekly contest selections via the Circa app needs to be mentioned.

My opinion is this is going to take 2-3 years before this contest competes with the Supercontest via entries to cause Westgate to lower their takeout from it. Or maybe it won't matter at all and both contests become gigantic successes.

I love the quarterly prizes for the Circa contest.

I think too, once the Circa "superbook" is built and completed, that will help too. Does Circa payout a certain percentage of participants? WG paid out top 100 of the 3100 or so entries. The 8% takeout was worth almost $400,000 to them based on the amount of entries they got last year.

VSiN advertises the sh*t out of the WG and the proxy service. That ad with Brent finishing 56th plays probably 6 times an hour! Almost at every commercial break for the past 3 months!

$1,000,000 for first. Top 10 paid. Then every 4 weeks will be a "mini" contest where a minimum of $50k is up for grabs.
