There's a reason field goal kickers used to be 50 and in and 70% to 60 and out 90% and it ain't genetics. The league has virtually 100% control over kicks. Anything in the air. Passes too.
 
Look at the video picture of the kickoff and all that open field to land the ball. Line drive that lands just inside the 20 would be a nightmare to try to recover especially if the kicker puts some wicked spin on the ball.
