Washington downed the Florida Panthers on Monday 4-1 and followed that up last night with a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
And guess what?

These games were part of a Capital's Dad's trip. Missed it. Damn.

Need to research these more carefully. There'll likely be several more in January.

Tonight...Colorado Avalanche - Vancouver Canucks 1st period over 1.5 goals -119 pinnacle

Will need Colorado to have a fast start.
Some early PP's will help.
Not sure which Thatcher Demko will show up tonight.

GL sharky tonight

Colorado is a solid "over" ATS team at home but not on the road.
Road games, just meh.
Bad bet last night was a mistake also Demko was too much of a wild card.

NY Rangers a road dog tonight to an 8-23 last-place Nashville team. I have to say, it has been a while since the Rangers were a dog to ANY mediocre or less team.

The NJ-StL line looks off too. Blues are playing too well to be that big of a dog at home. (+158)

Tonight's. Hoping for a chalky night.

Best bet is VGK.

Nashville Predators -154
Los Angeles Kings -155
Tampa Bay Lightning -211
Vegas Golden Knights -171

I'm a homer, but I honestly feel like the Panthers at their best are still the best team in the league, they've had some defensive lapses this year, the replacements for Brandon Montour and Oliver Eckman Larsson haven't been as good as those guys were and losing Anthony Stolarz, who's been great for Toronto, and replacing him with Spencer Knight has been a big downgrade, but once the playoffs start the backup becomes meaningless anyway, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the Panthers back in the SC finals again this year

They and TB are the class of the East right now IMO. Don't sleep on TB. Though he's been off his normal game, Vasilevskiy is healthy to start the year. They swapped out an older, immobile Stamkos for a much younger Guentzel who plays a 90-foot game and has fit right in. No GM in the league has been able to retool and reload without a rebuild like the Tampa GM has over the last few years. That's not to say I don't respect Florida either. It is hard to argue with their success as well. The only other team to mention in the same conversation is Toronto. TB 6 points back currently, but has 4 games in hand on Fla and 3 on the Leafs.

If Florida still has defensive holes, they likely will address those needs at the trade deadline.

Until they do something in the playoffs, it's hard to have any faith in them, very talented team, but I could say that every year, the other team in the East would be Carolina, but only with Anderson in net

If Florida still has defensive holes, they likely will address those needs at the trade deadline.
Florida GM Bill Zito is as sharp as they come, the past few years they've added a quality player or two at the deadline, there's no reason to think that won't be the case this year as well

3W-1L on Thurs. I'll take it.

Ducks and Utah are both very solid under ATS teams.
Taking U6 -106 pinnacle.

GL to everyone betting today's/tonight's games.

Utah vs. Anaheim yesterday was some nasty variance.
My observation this year is that the worse the teams, the more often you see random variance.

Tonight's
Isles -150 and VGK -304 look obvious.
Also, Stars -166 should be galvanized after the Rempe cheap shot against Heiskanen last game.
And I like Flyers vs. Pens to go over 6.5 -102

Good luck to all with your plays tonight.

Detroit Red Wings fired coach Derek Lalonde yesterday.
I try to avoid the uncertainty of drama and I'm always especially leery of a new coaching.
Good luck Sharky tonight with the under.

For me tonight it's Nashville -136 Vegas -237 and Colorado -128
These teams appear to have achieved stability while building confidence in their systems.
Good luck to all with your plays tonight.

Ottawa has a few seriously good players now after so many years of being positively useless.
Tkachuk, Batherson, Stutzle, Norris, and Sanderson could play on any team.
Smart that Sens have locked them all up on long term deals.

Taking Sens/Jets over 6 -106 tonight. Jets PP with Connor is among the best in the league
Also taking TBL -157 over NYR ML and Flames -167 later tonight against a tired Sharks team.

Good luck to all with your plays tonight.

Nice night Neveragain, Sens definitely have a lots of talent, its been a long patient wait to see them breakout. Finding the right goaltending along the way has been an issue.

Thanks Sharky.
And with Ullmark's current injury, the goaltending issues are getting worse not better.

Would be nice to see the Sen's grind out a win over Wild tonight as a dog but too many red flags for a play.
They dominated the Jets on advanced stats but Hellebuyck was very solid for the Jets in goal last night.

For me it's Vegas -211 and -1.5 +115 against a Flames team who were very possibly out catching the Vegas Flu last night.

Taking Utah tonight -148.
They've been facing some tough opponents recently with just 1 win to go with 3 losses from last 4.
Utah is a decent road team 11-6-2 and 6-3-2 overall in Dec.
Meanwhile Kraken are struggling with a record of just 8-8-2 at home and 5-6-1 in Dec.

Utah should also be highly motivated to get a win tonight against the Kraken, as they start tough road schedule with 3 games in 4 nights, facing Oilers tomorrow and then Flames.
Good luck to all with your plays tonight.

I rarely bet hockey, but I know they (St Louis & Chicago) are playing outside at Wrigley today. 38 degree temps......will this cause slushy ice?

In general the ice can be maintained at temps of 38 degrees. The ice technology is good enough.

With light rain in the forecast, however, I suspect the rain to slow down the puck movement as the rain may take time to freeze.
At the start of each period, the ice conditions will be best.
I wouldn't bet the game. Too many variables in the circumstances with possible randomness.

The worst ice conditions that I can recall was at the winter classic in Lake Tahoe in 2021.
The ice was melting in the afternoon due to heat from a warm sun at the Tahoe elevation.
They completed the game later that evening after sunset.

I do recall the worst sun burn in my life was suffered while skiing at Squaw Valley years ago.
I had never skied before under intense sun light and I paid a painful price for my stupidity.

The Devils appear to have everything they need to seriously contend for a Stanley cup this season.
Tonight against the Ducks we will see one of the top scoring teams, Devils, up against the very worst, Ducks.
I will be taking the Devils in play to cash on the -1.5 -107 handicap line.

An additional Devil's angle this season is the prospect of their goaltending tandem of Jacob Markstrom, age 35, and Jake Allen, 34, winning the Vezina.
This would be the oldest pair to win the Vezina since Glenn Hall (age 37) and Jacques Plante (age 40) in 68-69 with St. Louis.
Would be a great achievement indeed in a sport where youth is dominant.

Good luck to all with your plays tonight.

After the Devil's fiasco last night they're back at it again tonight with hardly enough time to dry their jock straps.
Both LA and the Devils have become solid under teams.
I'll follow this pattern tonight, allowing for an extra cushion with U6.5 -161

Early start tonight. Starting very soon.
Time to buckle up and win money at NHL hockey in 2025.
Good luck to all with your plays tonight.

No plays posted last night due to technical difficulties.
For tonight I tend to avoid teams like Chicago and Montreal due to the fact they're unpredictable.

I'm going with Sens U6 -148 and a depleted Van team U6.5 -152

There are several arguments why the smart money is on Chicago over the Rangers today.
Schedule, Igor, drama, failure. pick one.
Rangers played a decent game against a very good Caps team. Just too many defensive mistakes.

Today for me it's Rangers -129 ML.

And Canes just too good to drop another today.
Canes handicap -1.5 +122

Lightning on a back to back will be primed for a tight checking low scoring game in Anaheim.
Lightning under 7 -130

Good luck to all with your plays tonight.
