Re: NJ sports book news

Super, that's very helpful info, thanks.

The view has been expressed in this thread that the multi-jurisdictional outs won't be shading lines for local teams for a book in a particular venue, but if that's the case that wouldn't apply to any independent outs that pop up (and all bettors aren't necessarily price savvy, betting where they are rather than where they should be). Definitely going to be some Louisiana folks that pop over the border; the Saints also are a regional team; and that of course definitely is deep SEC country, for bettors in and all 'round Mississippi.

There's a related situation with Reno and Vegas. Not quite as much with local team flavor but more so in that the two independent books at Atlantis and Peppermill will hang lines in Reno that aren't available here. Like a flat 7 where only 6.5 is available down here. They have mobile apps that work in-state, if someone were to take the time to fly up there and open an account and make a deposit. But my understanding is that they don't like sharp action and especially big sharp action up that way, so that perhaps might be a waste of time. (Fishhead, on the other hand, no doubt has folks on the ground in all reaches of the state working around any such concerns.)

Voodoo's circa summer 2016 breakdown on NV mobile apps (Aliante was being bought out at the time):

https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/gambling-with-an-edge/2016-nevada-mobile-betting-rundown/

As to your first point, my understanding is that Delaware William Hill lines are not necessarily the same available in Nevada. I’m sure you have Don Best or some kind of live odds service? That would probably be quite easy to confirm.

Regarding paragraph #2, you’re dead on about the independent Reno books. If you make the trip up there to get the apps you best have a passport to use as ID and a confirmable local address at the ready to provide them because they are super wary of anyone from Vegas opening online accounts.

A buddy of mine who lives in Vegas was backed off the Atlantis app for “getting good numbers,” and he was DOWN $10,000 at the time!!!!

Boots on the ground in Northern NV are absolutely critical, not only to avoid app hassles, but also to hit the smaller independent books up that way. (US Bookmaking at Baldini’s, the Carson Valley Inn-Bodine’s-Sharkey’s outfit, and Lakeside in SLT.)

Re: NJ sports book news

On lines, I've gotten by more or less functionally without a live lines service as opposed to free/delayed, although I've come close to springing for one a few seasons. I only follow lines during the NFL season, so I wouldn't be paying for a line service at this point in the calendar anyway. Or looking at other lines at the moment. Being recalled from retirement has put a crimp into how many rabbit holes I run down right now that don't pertain to working, working out, and getting ready for football season.

I'd be interested in seeing any line variances between the various locales. But in this thread, FWIW, some folks were adamant that that just won't happen with a multi-jurisdictional book. Folks are adamant about a lot of things on discussion boards ("hockey will never work in the desert"), and time always tells in the end, one way or the other.

Re: NJ sports book news

i was at Harrington Delaware sports book Sunday night. essentially is their racebook/upstairs bar. was pretty dead, as was the casino. casino was downright depressing. literally zero tits and ass. didn't place any bets, Monday's games were not avail.

not a big fan of Delaware in general. lot of poverty and farms. prefer the Jersey shore to Rehoboth.

Re: NJ sports book news

Hopefully things will pick up, especially during peak hours, once football season kicks in earnest.

There are times and locales out here where a casino and its book can look like a vast wasteland (although it also can look like that even when its populated, albeit for different reasons).

Probably better that they get everything set up and some kinks worked out now while it's slow.

But a less than auspicious start pictured there.

The no T-n-A thing definitely is not good.

I'm starting to think the media, it's cronies and haters have been feeding us a bucket of bull as to the total handle outside of Nevada. Nothing more than a sheer job to keep sports wagering at bay.

no way of telling the total handle in the USA outside of nevada until all the states jump in and it goes online. The whole thing is how it is run. If if ever goes to the smartphone and websites it will be very large if withdrawls & deposits are easy.

Has anyone here been betting at the borgata lately? If so how are the limits?

I haven't been down there yet but the online is due to come out soon. It says that there is no need to go there in person . Sign up online. MGM already has the casino online.

Wait so you could already open an mgm account online in NJ? So are the lines going to be exactly the same as MGM Las Vegas?

Curious if anyone has information on the borgata sportsbook and been there.

Lines are are the same yes. As far as online app, I was there 2 weeks ago and the manager said there's a rule they have to be open for 30 days before offering online so they should be online very soon.

So there is basically no purpose then going to borgata then making wagers right since it will have the online app? The other thing is aren't limits going to be lower online as oppose to at the sportsbook? Also i recalled someone mentioned any wager 1k or more has to be approved?

Don’t know what the difference will be between online and in person at the sportsbook. When I’m in Vegas I always bet at the window I’ve never used an app out there. I’m sure Fishead can answer this question.

only the casino is online now for the MGM

I don't know for sure if it will be an app or online /or both for the sportsbook. The sportsbook could be available very soon as of July 11. That is what PlayNJ is reporting.

division of gaming enforcement in NJ says no need to open an account in person. However there is no sportsbook online at the moment or an app either in NJ.
There is a 30 waiting period , it started June 11th. So 30 days could be july 11th. Paperwork has to be put in by the casino too. So it could be later in the month.

The meadowlands open saturday july 14th at the meadowlands only.

30 day waiting period over for casinos/racetracks to start mobile/online in NJ. They are not ready . Some places say they will be ready before the NFL season starts.

Meadowlands opens saturday july 14th . Fan duel sportsbook. For horse bettors it is a big day at the M also.

this is the hub for esports and sports betting in NJ before the case started about 7 years ago . The Ocean Resort Casino data center, in conjunction with the other upcoming location, provides connectivity to Pennsylvania and Nevada locations, and a direct link to Continent 8’s global network of 30+ data centers,” This goes overseas too. This is what christie was talking about before the case started.. Just a coincidence folks. This wasn't planned.

Didn't Continent 8 begin their business on the reservation?

got the info from the website. I don't know but something is going on for sure. Christie said years ago , NJ was going to run things east of the Mississippi and nevada got the rest.

Mississippi ultimately may have something to say about that, lol.

At least at the start, it is going to be much like horse racing. State laws for each individual state, until and if there is ever a federal plan. NJ ain't going to run anything outside the state of NJ.

I don't know if they are talking about the data or betting . Just think what christie said from the beginning has come true so far NJ has sports betting, and they are building a data hub right now . Maybe you do not see all the cards.

What are you talking about? What is a data hub? The portly gov thought NJ would be the only state outside NV with sports betting, so it would be NJ and NV. Not the way it is going to play out because of the way SCOTUS ruled. That opened the doors for each state to operate on their own.

There will eventually be 30 or so states with 30 unique state rules & regs, same as horse racing unless the fed step in and create federal regulations. As of now, it is a total gold rush and a money grab for both the states and the operators.

it looks like it has something to do with esports . They expect I guess there will be a lot of money in it.

Guys, do yourselves a favor and check out the lines FanDuel is dealing at the Meadowlands. I've seen pictures on twitter and I'm in utter disbelief. If these lines are real their license should be revoked immediately!
