One of the worst “beats” of my life...

So on Saturday, I played the late pick 4 at fairgrounds.

Watching the last race, I thought I was live to 4 horses: 4,8-10. I was sick of my stomach when the 8 hung and the 5 won.. knowing I was in great position for a 4 figure score.

Today, I’m going through my losing tickets and I see that I actually put the 5 in there.. to my surprise, I was ecstatic thinking I won $2300 unexpectedly.

I go to the teller and she tells me it’s not a winner. I say how?!

I look at the ticket

I punched in the 8 instead of 7 in the 11th.

In other words, I accidentally left off the 1/5 favelkte

I’ve never felt so stupid in my life

Nothing worse.

If I were you, I'd check all my losing tickets, just in case.

I would do the same but I no longer can open my kitchen drawer filled with losing race and sports book tickets.

I have too many to count.... a few years ago, I kept every single one and checked the results of all of them.. but my dumbass never realized at the time that gulfstream pays 4 out of 5 in the pick 5. God only knows how many tickets I threw away with some money on it

Brutal. What's the max they can give you in cash at the OTBs anyways?

Not sure about a regular otb parlor cause we don’t have them here.. alll the horse bettingnis done at casinos so there’s always enough cash at hand unless maybe if you got one of the jackpot pick 6s for 400k+

The most I’ve won was a $9k pick 4 and had no issue cashing obviously

Quite some time ago I attended an off track establishment which was a family owned & operated combination burger joint, tavern and truck stop, with a 1950’s era motel in back.
It was in the lot up next to a creek. A place for shenanigans. There was no dress code.

Somehow I got very lucky and pushed all the right buttons that night.
It was like that Richard Dreyfus movie. I could do no wrong.

My roll was healthy.
As the night progressed I played larger and looser and things worked out more often than not.
It was validation of the concept to increase your bet size when you’re up.

And when the night was done, I gave the teller my voucher for $7,300.
It was definitely one of my best experiences in racing just to see her face when she ran it through her scanner. Shock and awe if I recall.
I was curious if she would have enough lettuce to cash me out.
I based this on their ‘clientele’ with a rough head count of just 60-80 in the room.
I would have been fine with instalments, but the manager appeared, then disappeared, and then reappeared from the back office with a grip of cash for me.

Paid in full.
True story, good times.

I played the late pick 5 last Saturday at fairgrounds and only loser on my ticket was Serengeti Empress. Had her singled and it was still a $200 ticket. Paid 20k.

Brutal and stupid sport
