Pitt -1 @ ND? Am I missing something?

It wouldn't shock me if ND won less than 3 games in conference. I had this number at 5 1/2. The best win ND has this year is vs Detroit. Pitt was clearly overrated being the 15th ranked team in the nation, but they are much better than ND - even on the road. ND has no depth nor talent - at least not much to speak of.

34-21 +10.9 units YTD.

Yeah, Wagner loss was ugly but the games before the holidays frequently cause a few upsets - no focus.

Now 1 1/2 across the board - I amazingly still like it at 1 1/2 as well. I hit it at 1.

Notre Dame hasn't lost at home in 27 straight games. It's on ESPN2, there will be a raucous home crowd (IrishTim will be leading the student section cheering), and Notre Dame has beaten Pitt the last 3 times they met. I'm just playing devil's advocate, but I think this plays into why the line is where it is.

ND was decent to good the past 3 times they beat Pitt. Notre Dame won 27 straight home games because they were good last year, and the year before at the end of the season. They are definitely a better team at home - all college teams are - but I think their prior success had more to do with being good than playing at home. I think what you pointed out might be reflected in the line though, just as a random Wagner loss is. Appreciate the info.

Good luck, Timely. I have been cold with my picks of late, but I took Over 125 Illinois (CRIS). Still available at that number, but I expect it will move.

Yeah, I am shocked that Pitt is only a small favorite, especially with Abromaitis out for the year with the torn ACL

I'm on Pitt too... I actually follow ND closely, watched a few of their games and think they really suck.. I wonder if ppl are overreacting to the Wagner loss or do ppl still think ND is a legit team.

The one thing I do know is the fact that ND sucks. Thats a FACT

Maybe people are overreacting. But I have seen ND play a couple of games and agree with you that they are awful. Honestly, I think Wagner might be better than ND is

I also love pitt ,this thread kinda scares me.
My game plan is if pitt is losing at the half and no big player has more than 2 fouls.I am doublng my play in the 2nd half.I see ND hanging close and fading in the 2nd.

If you used KenPom's ratings and predictions blindly you'd lose money. KenPom is just another tool to use, and one I do frequently check, but it's certainly not a basis to gamble on. My line is nearly 4 points different from the line - I usually look at anything 2 or more off, when I looked deeper it seemed Pitt was the play.

Not a big "ranked on the road as a small favorite vs an unranked home team" guy but this seems like a spot to ignore that.

Woodall is doubtful tonight. Pitt's offense slows to a grind without their PG. Gibbs moves over to point and struggles to create offense for himself.

ND for me. Under as well.

For me this is a game because it is on ESPN I will watch a little of the game and see how they matchup.

I think you will be able to see if Pitt came to play.

My feeling is that you will get a better in-game line on BOTH teams.

No need to bet this game BEFORE it starts.

What I was saying is that I can see Pitt not being able to put Notre Dame away and Notre Dame winning a close game.

Pitt isn't a very good TEAM.

Another reason to NOT have pre-season rankings.

Right now there are not close to being a top 25 team.

Nobody is saying pitt is a title contender. Obviously this team can't hang with Kentucky, UNC, Ohio St etc.

Good win for the Irish. Obviously not as good as last year's top 10 team and probably wont make the tournament, but Grant can be a stud and a goos class coming in next year. Also had our top target for 2013 at this game and in the hunt for a few others. Should be back top 15 in two years. Home win streak of 28 games in Big East is nice to keep going.

It was a lot more than that. They were ice cold in the first half and were only down 1 at half. Gross over-simplification to just say they couldn't miss from 3.

I also know the total got bet down 4 points.

Don't know who did it and don't care who did it. It was still a good under bet at 132.

And I would much rather bet against the move, but this wasn't one of those games.
