The opening odds start here
CWS/Minnesota over 6 even:
The Twins (34-16) own the majors' best record and have opened up an 8 game lead on second place Cleveland. Last night in game 1 of this 3 game series, Minnesota crushed 3 more HR and got a sparkling performance from Jose Berrios pummeling the White Sox (23-27) 11-4 at Target Field. Edwin Rosario went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI including belting his 15th HR of the season. Max Kepler went 3 for 4 driving in 4 and scoring 2 crushing his 11th round tripper, and Miguel Sano launched his 5th while scoring 3 runs. Berrios improved to 7-2 scattering 9 hits over 6 2/3 allowing just a run with 4 strikeouts and no walks. Renalydo Lopez (3-5) suffered the loss and was torched for 8 runs on 7 hits over 3 2/3. Yonder Alonso hit a 2 run single in a 4 run second inning to give the pale hose a very short lived 4-1 lead. Tim Anderson went 3 for 3 scoring a run in the losing effort. The Twins have now won 4 straight and 9 of their last 10 while the White Sox saw their brief 2 game winning streak snapped.

Minnesota sends Kyle Gibson (4-2 4.47) to the hill who has won 2 of his last 3 outings. The 31 year old 7 year right-hander has given up just 8 ER over his last 18 IP (4.00) with 22 strikeouts and only 3 walks. He faces a White Sox lineup batting just .251 averaging 4.3 runs per contest while ranking 11th in the AL with 56 HR. Jose Abreu (.263 12 41) has a 7 game hitting streak (.308) and is third in the AL in RBI. Yoan Moncada (.284 9 32) is well on pace to better his career highs in HR and RBI from last season, and has a modest 3 game hitting streak (.357). Anderson (.337 8 25) has also hit in 3 straight (.545) and is second in the AL in batting. Anderson also has a team high 13 steals caught just twice (.867). Leury Garcia (.272 2 16) has hit the skids as of late (.179) after a good start. James McCann (.333 4 12) has done a solid job behind the plate but has also struggled over the last week going just 3 for 23 (.130).

The Sox counter with Manny Banuelos (2-3 7.26) who is going through the worst stretch of his sophomore campaign losing his last 3 starts. The 28 year old southpaw has surrendered 19 ER and 22 H over his last 11 IP (15.55) walking 8 and striking out 13. He will look to right the ship this afternoon against a Twins lineup batting .273 overall ranking second in the majors with a league leading 101 HR and 6 runs per contest. Target Field as well as road venues seem like launching pads for this bunch, led by Rosario (.285 15 42) who has hit safely in 4 straight and 7 of his last 8 (.457) dominating opposing pitching. CJ Cron (.272 13 30) has had 3 multi-hit games this week, including 5 Thursday afternoon in a 16-7 win over Anaheim. Kepler (.271 11 29) brings in a 7 game hitting streak (.447) including 4 straight multi-knock games. Jorge Polanco (.339 9 26) leads the AL in batting hitting .385 over his last 8 games. Mitch Garver (.326 9 19) has given this Twins team more than already expected at the dish and behind the plate.

We get a dandy of a price this afternoon and given the fact that this Twins team is on pace to shatter some records offensively, why stop the train now? Temps this afternoon at target are in the low 70's with windy conditions that will only aid the offenses. The White Sox have managed to stay near the mendoza line and have some pop themselves, but Banuelos could be on a short leash especially after 3 consecutive subpar outings. Gibson has found a nice groove after a rough start but has a tendency to give up the long ball as he has allowed 9 in just 50 IP. Look for another high scoring game in the twin cities this afternoon as we shoot for our 4th straight. Best of luck however you play!
