Re: Seems Like Mike Jacobs is ready to become a top 1B
Was a good deal for KC, giving up very replaceable relief pitcher to take a shot, albeit a bit of a longshot that with what well may be a better hitting coach, that he could take it to the next level. Time will tell how it will work out. He is possibly the worst defensive first baseman in baseball, which is overlooked often. Batting in altitude also this spring. Hopefully he is somewhere in between his spring production and his strikeout happy, low on base percentage self he was in Florida. Royals could use the much needed pop.
Royals lineup could look something like this.
Crisp
Aviles
Dejesus
Guillen
Jacobs
Butler
Gordon
Olivo/Buck
Shitty 2nd basemen that will rotate
Would prefer to move aviles down in order though and move it to this
Crisp
Dejesus
Gordon
Guillen
Jacobs
Butler
Aviles
Olivo/Buck
shitty 2nd baseman rotation.
Was hoping Teahen could figure out 2nd base, but his seems way too tall for that. Would really boost offense if he could play adequate 2nd base. They would have a legit bat 1-9 then, save the swing hard and hope catcher position arguable.
Rotation looks mediocre
Meche needs to be Meche
Zach
Those two are fine. Bottom three could be a struggle
Davies looks to be a lock
Then
Horacio Ramirez, Bannister, Hochevar, Sidney Ponson and a couple others battling for the last two and they all suck for the most part. Hopefully they go with Hochevar as he at least has good stuff and let Banny try to figure it out for the first month.
Bullpen is the strength of the team. Should be VERY GOOD in the pen. Deep and pretty talented, anchored ofcourse by Soria. They should be able to hold their fair share of leads this year, which is a must as they will play many games where they never sniff a lead.
Again should be another year of gradual improvement under Dayton Moore. Big hole at 2nd. Just short financially of making a run at Hudson which would have changed things dramatically. Forget if Durham latched on somewhere but would be a good sign as well. I am sure he did by now.
