SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

Re: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

Sportsgirl,

I have a confession to make.

It was anything but a brilliant decision...

I didn't hire Blondie because she was a Female..

I hired her because she has proven to be ever so passionate about EOG, helpful, intelligent, loyal, kind and caring to other posters...

These are qualities I look for in all our moderators...

THE SHRINK

It's the female part that give her those other qualities you mentioned

Shrink, Question:

Can you fly Mo to the Seattle area so we can go watch the mariners get swept at home again? If so, I got a seat for you to big guy.

Re: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

Blondie is very helpful, I notice if someone has a problem she is right there offering help..

I'll admit out here in the open that when me and Blondie both came on board as moderators, we immediately started off on the wrong foot.

Since those opening days, she has become a very good friend and I feel very fortunate to work beside her here. She is an EXTREMELY hard worker and a dedicated and caring person.

She has proven herself VERY DESERVING of being a moderator here imho. :cheers

You pretty much explained me Shrink. I am all about EOG now, this is the best site forum hands down.

Re: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

College Football and College Hoops are about tied for #1...

Believe it or not, I played 4 Varsity Sports, including Soccer, Track and Field, Basketball and Tennis...

I was all around Athlete both as a Junior and a Senior, albeit I went to a Private High School in New York..

My other major sports accomplishments was making the ALL STATE team in Soccer and being offered a scholarship to UCONN to run track (the half mile was my baby)...

I turned down UCONN for EMORY...

Shrinky baby, why did so many old Jews run track? :dancefool:dancefool:dancefool

Shrink-

How do you feel about the fact that EOG has become more about drama and childish antics than it has about sports gambling?

I understand that this is a business and you want as many posters and as much traffic as possible, but it seems lately it has seemed drama and high school antics is the primary focus and sports gambling is secondary.

I have read more than one thread where a handfull of posters agree with this statement as well.

Why was every questioned addressed BUT mine? What is your issue with me?

Re: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

Nice thread. Ken: Assuming a sponsor, was there ever a time when he/she opined that wagering could be a "problem" on your way to recovery? If so, how did you two deal with that? (If too personal for this arena, I would appreciate a PM).

Re: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

Ken,
I stood beside you last year at the Rio as you attempted to place a wager with the ticket writer. You asked if you could place a $10,000 wager on Indy. The management was called over, huddled and said no. You asked about 5k. Again denied.
You then asked what would they accept as a max wager. They said $3,300 which you then bet (on the Colts, winner).

A side note to this and a lesson for new wagerers about getting the best number:
I had wagered the previous Sunday on the opening number, the Pats -3. You waited until kickoff and took the other side, Indy, at +6. The Pats won the game by 4. We both went to the cashiers window to collect. A good example about getting the best number.

What is the largest wager you have ever placed in a Nevada casino?
What about a local?
Have you ever been stiffed by a local?

Shrink wants 5k on Indy and can't get it, but Ivey gets 2 million down on the Lakers without having to work up even one bead of sweat on his brow.

Nick,

I assure you at it was an oversight. Thanks for pointing it out.

I don't believe EOG has become any more about drama and childish antics than in the past.

Our moderators strive hard to keep threads focused on the topic at hand. We encourage MORE HANDICAPPING threads. You will soon learn that whoever is chosen to be our future HEAD MODERATOR will know quite a but about SPORTS & GAMBLING...

We are a tad quicker now than before to pull the trigger on posters whose agendas are to be divisive, childish, and immature. In the past, we didn't have enough posters to BAN everyone who needed to be, but now we do...

If someone is behaving in the manner you described in your question, feel free to inform any of our mods and we will take all suggestions under careful consideration...

Our goal is to be helpful and improve...

I had a pretty large wager on that one myself. Colts +5.5! WOOOO!

GREAT QUESTION...

I have had two sponsors (my first one relapsed after 7 years of sobriety)...

I am very fortunate because both sponsors understand that I entered AA NOT to give up a business that helps pay my bills (gambling), but rather to stop DRINKING and using mood altering substances. While all the "steps" are very spiritual in nature, it doesn't mean I have to quit doing what I am so passionate about in order to recover and have a happy life...

Re: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

Question-

A few years ago you, uh, 'insured' accts and then pretty much immediately rescinded it because your 'lawyers' said it was illegal.

Have there been a change in the laws?

I RARELY bet in a Nevada Casino...

Although I stopped moving for BW 2 years ago, I have been pegged as a BILLY BEARD by quite a few of them, so they don't want my "action."

You probably witnessed the largest bet I placed in a Nevada Casino...

Fortunately, I have NEVER been stiffed by a LOCAL but it's been many years since one of them has booked my bets. It's easier for me to get down in Vegas than to find a local, even though I no longer work for the computer group! :pop:

Well, there you go.

First rule of thumb in Las Vegas sportsbooks. Never walk in with Tim beside you. The fear behind the counter becomes palpable.

roscoe,

I'd like to think that Lenny will do the honorable thing and eventually pay you. I do know that when I was in Costa Rica last week, I met with him. He has recently paid back CRIS, so he isn't running from everyone.

I can't make promises, but I will mention his debt to you if you wish...

Re: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT...

What are some common jobs you had as a young man and or teenager?

Thanks,
Woodie

Here are 4 that immediately come to mind...

I was an "orderly" at a hospital in New York as a teenager...

I worked as a waitor in Virginia Beach (I was awful)...

I worked for ORKIN (I crawled under houses to sell termite protection)

I delivered subs to the dorms in College to pay off a debt to my Bookie (who owned the sub place)...
