So Durant Has A Torn Achilles....

Heim

It wasnt torn before he stepped on court.

Why...because he was cleared to play? Where he grabbed intially against Houston it was clearly a achillies issue. There are different degrees. Now clearly ruptured.

NBA players are never the same after a torn Achilles tendon.

See:

Kobe Bryant

Rudy Gay

DeMarcus Cousins

Anderson Varejao

Mehmet Okur

Wesley Matthews

Brandon Jennings

Patrick Ewing

Dominique Wilkins

Yup. Like ESPN experts reiterated...it changes the dynamics of the NBA.

It sure does. A great player shot down in his prime, it's a fucking shame but if it always was an achilles issue (I have no idea) then he in no way, shape or form should have been out there after 1 practice.. I always privately thought he was a pussy but he gained my respect last night.

Respect is overrated

In this context, I'd agree. WTF was he doing if it really was an Achilles issue? I don't think it originally was but I don't know. 1 practice and he's playing? He clearly wanted to be a Hero and build his legend but at what cost? The respect of guys like me? Fuck that, heal up and lead another team and you'll get the same respect.

He may have had a strained Achilles before, no way was he playing with a torn Achilles or would he be cleared.

I can't imagine it either, maybe a "sore achilles" or strained like you said but then again, you don't fuck around w/ achilles issues, Finals or not. I think it's a case of bad luck stemming from residual calf issues. It has to be, right? I mean unless he had a sore achilles and was told it was just going to be a pain management issue and not an structural one.... which it turned out to be.

Most likely he didn’t stretch out the Achilles well enough with bad luck. It’s a 6-8 month recovery. He’ll have to be careful not to snap the other one (very common)

There was a shot of Durant in a recent game with an ice pack on the lower leg. Not the calf area; much closer to the heel. Further confirmation of what Heim was saying.

how much money did Durant just lose ? The knicks don't want him anymore.

Could this be Cousins 2.0? But Cousins suffered his injury in January of 2018, so he had a full year before he returned. He's probably going to have to miss entire 2019-20 season then see how the market shapes up.

The big question is if GSW had Durant locked up for 5 years would they have cleared him to play?

This is very reminiscent of Kawhi's situation last year. He told management FU I'm not ready to play and
then heard all the rumblings in the background what a pussy he was. Durant succumbs to pressure and
look what we have.

agree. I don't think players are ever the same after this. Sure he will play again but not at the same level. It is better he is a big guy not a guard. Yes will miss the entire year.

When the Cubs traded for Chapman in 2016, they rode him hard knowing they probably weren’t resigning him.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. If Durant re-ups for next year and misses the majority of the season, will GS give him the best care, knowing he’s going to the Knicks? Would the Knicks want another team controlling the rehab?

So now Durant is going to a super duper specialist in New York for diagnostic work including a MRI. So who was diagnosing and treating him prior to yesterday Dr. Dre?

If anyone can "easily" overcome it, its Durant.

He doesnt need quickness or much elevation to score. He can get his shot off anytime he wants

So you would have no problem paying him $30 Mil+ per season?

I would think GSW re-ups him. Seeing GM Meyer last night crying I'd think they feel obligated....Slippery Pete is right. Durant's game is finesse. He should be ok after a lengthy rehab.
