IT is almost Christmas everyone and I am not talking about December 25th but I am talking about December 4-5th when the RODEO Comes into town. If you are a long time resident of LV you know every year these Cowboy tourists come in for the NFRA rodeo at the Tomas and Mack convention center and South point casino.

This is one of my favorite times of the year in LV when all these tough Cowboys come into town and I sit at the poker table and they hand over their wallets to me at the poker tables. Pretty much everywhere is good but to the locals; We know where to sit and receive the donations. Here is a hint below follow where NFRA events happen.

Here is the schedule of events these tourists will be at

https://www.nfrexperience.com/home/schedule_of_events/

I could not paste all of them go to the link

A few years ago some buddies and l were playing at the Barbery Coast and drinking Crown Royal. The rodeo was in town. Guess what. The cocktail waitress told us the Cowboys drank all of the casinos booze. They ran out of Crown

2014 december--100s of cowboys and cowgirls staying at the MGM. They gambled very little. A few slot machines maybe, but NO craps or 21. I think poker room was being remodeled. Miserable group. Nobody smiled, or laughed. The people I saw for about 3 days did not seem to be having a good time.

Would have been the worst move in the history of Professional Rodeo if that had occurred.

Last year, there was ONE NFR Finalist that was WEST of the Mississippi River

Of the 120 this year to qualify, it appears at a quick glance there are THREE

Definitely good to have them at the poker tables but you should see what this crowd loses in the pit. They not only lose but lose at a rate that seems unheard of. Some of the highest rolling cowboys love blackjack and lose at about triple the standard house rate by doing dumb shit like hitting on 15 against a dealers 6 and also they absolutely love to split a 20. Christmas comes early for the pit manager.

So I should go to the craps table and just bet against the shooter. I might catch a spur up my ass in the process but the money won should cover the hospital costs of getting it removed.

This sounds good but they probably only had one case of crown on hand.

MIGHT BE MY #1 PET PEEVE!

If you told me that every hand I received would be a 20 I'd be playing at the $500 table and by the end of the night I'd be up 6-figures. Maybe 7. I just don't understand how/why people take a hand that will get you paid (or a Push) over 90% of the time (and probably closer to 95%+) and then go and fuck it up by splitting it trying to get even more. When I get dealt a 20 I can't shove the cards under my stack fast enough (or when dealt Face Up make it known I am fine).

It just makes me wanna scream!

No money left to gamble with after paying MGM resort fees.

One word GREED .... Most times people that do that know the game, basic strategy or at least a decent part of it and try to outsmart the game when they are only outsmarting themselves

Playing tight is right and then when you have enough you can bluff at pots..
I folded last night when I had Q9 on the river in position to the most active guy at the table (limped in every hand) on a board of 3QQ3J when he limped (4 to flop), bet 15 on flop (I was only one to call), we both checked the on turn and then on river, when the J hit, he bet 100. I took a while and folded a Q face up. I had not seen him bet this large in any hand up this this point and just felt he had QJ.

This led to the cowboys winning on the night.

Wow seriously? That's beyond tight. How you ever going to make money in the long run folding a hand like that to a simple overbet of a pot?

There are plenty of better situations to get your money in at 1/2 live poker. Ill get my money where i know im ahead.

Wow ok. Please play in my games, I'm going to run you over. What if the guy has a 3? How about AJ? What about a Q without the J? Really you wouldnt take about +140 odds to find out there?
