Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

yeah 30% is probably what i would've felt comfortable throwing in on a comp, would rather way overdo it than go under. just wondering what kind of money those waiters/waitresses pull in at the high end joints/clubs...

I'd say easy 60K+ a year

I served in the past, and the job isn't easy.

I remember getting stiffed by a white dude with 3 asian kids. And the best tip I ever got was from White Trash and a older black couple

Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

How you get in a place like that I wonder? I couldn't take waiting on some of the stuck up bastards. But if I was serving beat up gamblers and making 15-18% that would be good enough for me:btj:

Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

Yea that's probably on the low end if you work 5+ days a week

Depends - no clue how busy their weekdays are. You can make 80-90k easily as a server at Hugo's in Chicago; Hugo's will also relocate you to Florida or etc during the slower season in Chicago to maximize your earnings. Career servers there are making 6 figures but it's not an easy job - as many seem to think. Those shifts are pressure filled.

I know a couple servers at high end city places that make more $ than I do easily. Vegas I would imagine is hit or miss - also, the more corporate the more likely you are to have to split the big groups with a bunch of people which blows. I would imagine, on your bill, they tipped out $200 to bar/bus/expo. Then if they had another server with them, they split that 50/50 so probably made close to $300 off your table. If they worked solo, that would obviously be the best but most corporate places won't let you work solo on parties of 12-14 or more. Also a good chance that they might of only had 1-2 more tables, and I can't imagine the turn times at a place like that are all that quick.

Server at carnevino told me that there were a few guys there easily make $100k +

I many at the high end places at Wynn, Venetian , Bellagio do as well

Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

But Mike thats how it works in Vegas. If you get a $3500 comp the guests should tip at least 30%. Teddy is being humble, if he and Joey tipped $200 then 14 others tipped $600. Embarassing!

I'm gonna agree here but I was in the biz. We all don't think the same. I would say most people have never spent $100 on a meal let alone tip $100

There is also a chance the gratuity was included but drunk Teddy didn't even know it.

Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

If he was comped the tip was not included. The hotel and the restaurant have a deal that they will send the restaurant their comps for 80 cents on the dollar or whatever. So if Prime serves a $1000 meal then they will turn in an invoice for $800 to the Belagio. This guarantees Prime business and the Belagio doesnt have to pay full price.

Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

I never really did a full write up about the dinner.

First off I will say that I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Teddy was one hell of a host for the event. He was very polite and made everyone feel comfortable. I think the best way to describe him is as Kinger put it, gregarious. He was all all smiles and making jokes. Really funny and the type that can make everyone laugh. I think most posters were kinda surprised that I wasn't an asshole and angry in real life given my online persona.

Munson- Munson and I had chatted over the phone/PMs over the years but it was really great to meet him in person. I sat next to him at dinner and we had a great time. He really is as nice in real life as he is online. He is a real genuine type of guy that has a great and positive outlook on things despite being aware enough to know that gambling industry is a dark place filled with crooks in general. He thought it was hilarious that I wasn't a fat guy based on my user name, as did a few others who had never seen my pics online.

Brayden- He is a blast. I wish I had got to go out and party with him after as you can tell he is one of those guys that has fun where ever he goes. Very smart guy and and well spoken. Cracked up the table with some great shots at Brock when he was the topic of conversation. He and as well as ChitownJoe help offset the typical pieces of shit psychos that EOG has from the midwest. Also atypical from most gamblers as he seemed to be in really good shape. Definitely lifts, bro.

PalmTree- He actually probably surprised me the most. I sat across from him and JK and the 3 of us had a really good time talking. I really didn't think I would like the guy based on his posting but he is very engaging and I enjoyed hearing about how he gambles, especially with regards to baseball. We also bonded over our love of good food. He did a great job ordering he, Munson, JK, and I a bunch of sides that we all shared.

JK- I'd met him before but it was nice to sit and talk a bit more with him. I think he was a little uncomfortable at first being stuck sitting near me, but after a while all was fine. He's sober so I'm sure me having consumed 20+ drinks before dinner and many more during, was probably annoying to him, but he handled it well. He gave some honest opinions about Gilsan and Broke alike. I won't post what exactly was said, but he seems to be feeling the heat the forums. Jake Peavy put him on the spot about the concerns of the forum and I thought he answered them well.

Peavy- If I lived in Vegas, I'm sure I'd hang with Peavy a bunch. We have similar interests, similar age, and got along well. He's a smart guy who is realistic about living in the the crazy world of Las Vegas. Despite people giving him a hard time for being a big weed smoker, guy is sharp as a tack and very laid back. Like myself, very "California-like"

SlimShady- He was exactly what expected. Soft spoken and really smart. Guy is clearly VERY successful at what he does. Wish I hadn't passed out of I expect he and I would have went out and ripped up the town. Was nice enough to give me a ride back from the dinner and let me tell you, the guy drives a TREMENDOUSLY baller car. I'd make it -1500 he has the nicest car on the forum.

ChitownJoe- another great midwest guy. I didn't get to talk to him all that much but would have liked to talk to him more.

Fifycint- I had pictured him looking completely different that he did. Very nice and soft spoken guy. Wish I had got to chat a bit more with him. He represented the EOG east coast contingent well.

VD- Everyone knows the dino well enough and I've hung with him in the past. The one thing I will say is that he has lost a ton of weight and was looking in real good health. One of my favorite guys from the forums in real life. Still need to get out on the golf course with him. VD really does live life to the fullest and is always in a good mood.

Dink- Very much just like he is on the radio. Witty, funny, and outspoken. Though he did seem a bit more shy than I would have suspected. He is very humble as well.

As Teddy mentioned in his post, not a single douchebag there. Everyone is polite and well mannered and no one was socially awkward.

I'm always apprehensive about meeting up with random people from the internet but one you meet everyone, you realize despite being from different places, having different back grounds, and being a wide variety of ages, we are all sick fukkin gamblers and that is enough in common to make you get along with, and enjoy spending time with, people who share your hobby.

All and all a great time and big thanks once again to Teddy for making it all happen. The food was obviously incredible and I highly recommend Prime as a top 5 place in Vegas to have a steak.

Glad to know there's at least 20 well adjusted people here :LMAO

What a gesture by Teddy... do one again next year so I can come :cheers

Promise I'll throw in at least $100 towards the tip.... that's the only depressing part of the story here, non-Joey tip averages $30 a pop 2938u4ji23

Joey/Peavy if you don't mind me asking, sounds like you both do well for yourselves AND blaze. Possible to hold down a job in the corporate world and enjoy the grass or no?

Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

^^why would you ask peavy if it's possible to hold a job and smoke pot :LMAO

he's allergic to work (lucky bastard)

We both live in CA, which is like a different world, but the answer here is a definitive YES.

Currently working for a very creative design firm and people openly talk about blazing with no repercussion. One of our company pub crawls had people, including some partners, blazing joints and vape pens outside the bar by the end.

People were blazing openly at the company party as well. (I wasn't as I work in Finance, which is slightly more conservative and I like to keep a somewhat conservative rep at work)

Really working anywhere in Silicon Valley weed smoking will be VERY common.

I always find it funny the way drugs are demonized and thought to only be done by losers. Some of the smartest and most successful people I know (C level executives at some companies everyone has heard of) smoke weed, do blow, molly, etc on the weekends or when partying. Just need to separate it from your actual work, and you'll be fine.

Re: Thank you Teddy KGB...

Trust me Joey I know Cali's a different world. I'm finishing my last semester up at a JC out here in Orange County and starting to realize its a different world out there if I end up at SMU or Richmond as opposed to USD or Loyola Marymount next year.

I had been thinking being forced to stop blazing as much would be a necessity anyway, so starting two years early wouldn't be a bad thing. But if I can continue forever as long as I find a job in Cali, while then, that may be tough to turn down.

I roll with my Open Vape Pen around campus from my car until I step in the classroom and nobody even takes a second glance :LMAO

Why anyone lives north of the Mason-Dixon line just baffles me.
