Thanks for posting, George.

I promise this thread is not indicative of EOG's collective efforts.

?welcome, John. See you caught the indirect George reference in my post.

Been some good threads ? and articles ? lately.

But, yeah, this one?s kinda? out there somewhere.

Just figured that 99% of the thread must be tongue-in-cheek by guys who regularly bust each other?s chops for fun -- as nobody really could get that worked up over someone else?s tip.

Could they?

When I first became associated with EOG, The Meatman claimed I never made a bet with an offshore sports book.

Now, his story has me slow-paying agents and stiffing illegal bookmakers.

Embarrassing.

Not for me, but for Dave.

Here is what I said when you first came to EOG. I said you(John Kelly) never had a POSTUP account offshore. Of course I knew you were betting with local bookies which is how I know you are a stiff.

Have you ever had a POSTUP offshore sportsbook account JK?

PS Anytime you are ready to burry me JK please do so. Of course I know you have nothing on me so I will call your weak bluff. You see John when you pass the Big Brother Big Sisters volunteer test you know your record is spotless. Bring it on son.

The Hilton buffet usually runs somewhere in the low teens with my locals players card discount, sometimes down in the single digits with special promotions.

I usually leave two bucks. Three if I hang out at a table working and tie up the table for a bit longer than normal or show up at closing and keep a waiter/waitress hanging around waiting for me to finish.

I don't ask for a four-place table unless it's a slack time.

In the normal circumstance, I figure -- having waited tables in school -- that there's a bit less involved with buffet service than is involved where the food is not serve yourself.

But to answer your question....zero.....Why the fvck would anyone tip at a buffet?

I do have a major problem with the proliferation of tip jars for nothing more than the "service" of a clerk taking my money. Nothing against store clerks, did that, too. But that's not a service.

The buffet servers do provide service, however, bringing you drinks, taking away plates as you're eating, etc.

So I'm good with leaving a reasonable tip, just not my usual 20%.

Another thing at the Hilton is that the casino is giving me a 25% discount with my locals players card. So, in my inane mind as a George (pun intended) in Las Vegas, I tend to spread some of that discount back to the servers and into the Las Vegas economy. Sort of an economic karma, what goes around . . . thing.

But that's just me.

If it is a crab leg buffet I tip $5 because of the mess I make eating.

If it is a regular buffet I tip standard gratuity which is 15%.

Buffet waiters work just as hard as regular waiters. Sure they don't deliver food, but they pickup five times as many plates as in a normal sit down meal. Plus I might drink different things in a buffet like milk and juice so I am constantly running the server around unlike when I go out to eat in a regular restaurant where I just order water.

<!-- end .byline --> No lucky pennies here: Police have charged Jason West, an aggrieved medical patient in Vernal, Utah, with disorderly conduct. His alleged crime? Attempting to pay a disputed medical bill of $25 entirely in pennies.
The story, reported in the Salt Lake City Deseret News, describes the "penny offense" this way: West, 38, did not believe he owed the medical clinic $25 but came in to pay the fee in person. He first asked the clinic staff if the facility accepted cash payments, and then dumped 2,500 pennies onto the counter and demanded that they be counted.
But West apparently hadn't counted on the clinic calling the police; the arresting officer contended that West's protest served "no legitimate purpose." The charge carries a fine that can go as high as $140--and there's no word as yet on what currency West will use to pay it.
West isn't alone in the ranks of penny protesters. A wise guy in Frederick, Maryland, showed up at the county clerk's office last summer with bags of cash to pay off his tax bill with $966.86 in change.
And a New Jersey school district a few years back punished 29 students who paid for their $2 school lunches in pennies--possibly as a prank--with two-day detentions. After parents protested, the students were pardoned. The school explained that the use of the small change slowed down the lunch line.

About Fezzik's generosity: I believe Fezz donated $400 to a guy named Sid who Meaty was promoting on his radio show in the aftermath of Hurricaine Katrina.

Also, Fezzik is a favorite among ticket writers in Las Vegas sports books. I've seen his gracious ways and heard about them countless times in my many travels around Las Vegas.

I remember the show.....pretty sure it was closer to $800. Sid was living in a hotel at the time and was completely busted out. Nice gesture by Fezz naturally Dave fails to acknowledge it herein....

As usual you clowns have NO IDEA as to what you are talking about.

Fezzik made a $200 bet for Sid that won on pure luck on a backdoor cover. I sent Sid the $200 plus the $180 in winnings.

The problem is I personally sent the guy Sid $2500 out of my own pocket along with donating thousands to help the hurricane victims. I also paid ALL Western Union fees to send any money I collected for the guy.

The bottom line right here is if Fezzik only donated $200 to help the Katrina hurricane victims I am NOT impressed. Plus Sid only got some money from Fezzik if the game won. Had the game lost Sid would have gotten zip. This is NOT how you make a donation to charity. Sure Steve did something half way nice, but when you compare it to what I did there is no comparison.

Just for the record the $800 donation came from a guy who bet $100 on Barbaro to win the Kentucky Derby which is the horse that I gave out on my radio show that year. Barbaro went off at 7 to 1 and I sent the winnings to Sid. Of course I picked up the Western Union fees which cost me $75 out of my own pocket.

When you do as much charity work as I do(Big Brothers Big Sisters, volunteering as an usher at the Catholic Cathedral here in Las Vegas, donation thousands of dollars to help feed homeless/hungry people) you don't praise people who do 1/10000000th of what you do. I told Fezzik thank you the day he gave me the sports betting ticket for Sid. I think that is more then enough. Are we really still patting Fezzik on the back for a $200 donation he made to a hurricane victim back in 2005?

I have to disagree.

I think it is very important for people coming to Las Vegas to meet and eat with Fezzik know he is a less then 15% tipper. Can you imagine being out to dinner with Steve and when it is time to leave the gratuity Fezzik pulls a handful of pennies out of his pocket as part of the tip? I am sure most people would be embarrassed beyond comprehension if this happened which is why I feel obligated to warn others so they never have this problem.

Remember that when you go out to eat with Fezzik he pays the bill and you leave the tip. Or you pay for everything. It is not worth looking like an idiot.

The dinner buffet at the Rio costs $27.99 so my cost is $14.00 plus tax. I will leave a $5 tip.

Meatman- Maybe if you cut down on your eating and spent more time handicapping games and horses you might be more successful? Oh wait, you have to have an IQ higher than a fifth grader to figure out basic math to get to first base handicapping sports.:LMAO

We get it- you have said the same thing over and over. Blah, blah, blah. Your act is getting stale- move on.

Re: ON a related Note, Gary Greene, Papa Joe, WAR, Adam Meyer and Dan Gordon

Gary and I have had some truculent times in Vegas, but unline the Meatman, GARY HAS NO PROBLEM COMING UP TO YOU and voicing his opinion. Gary and I got into it in the past (Arne Lange was scared it was going to come to blows) but we settled our differences, and I like Gary.Wayne Allen Root........Libertarian party with Greg Raymer. Raymer's power rating drops 2 points.

Adam Meyer. Once bet me 20k to win 10k he could beat me in a 1 week contest. Now THAT guy has some balls (and kicked my ass in the 2005 Hilton).

Dan Gordon. Uh oh. DOCUMENTED (well self documented 61-66 ATS NBA this year........maybe time to get some new darts).

Papa Joe. MY FAVORITE DUST MEMORIES. Joe (aligned with the mysterious BUbba handicapper) POUNDED Vegas pro 'handicappers' including but not limited to Andy Iskoe who JK ALWAYS touted as "the good Andy" regardless of who was in goal that night.

Greene's a fraud.....no idea why you would be cordial to that guy with your track record. The fact that he can use the 'friendship' as a selling point (and he has) on the radio perpetuates it even more. Nobody has anything to gain from associating with that guy.

I have already told you to your face what I think of you.

You slithered out the back door just like you did with John Kelly at the Nugget buffet. You are a liar and a pussy and everyone knows it.

The thread is now descending into "The Prettiest Horse In The Glue Factory" status.

I would be much more embarrassed to con people out of hard earned money claiming to pick winners and then only pick 48% then I would to be a 13% tipper. But that's just me.

We need a Meatman-Fezzik contest.

People come to Vegas to meet and eat with Fezz? OK, other than that secret, late-night flight by the underaged children of the royal family of Cambodia to get his Cricket advice, who else has made Fezzik a travel destination? This is big.

He seems kinda normal to me when he eats, but we may be able to trick it up with Cirque du Soleil.
