Eye On Gaming is pleased to introduce "The SportsOptions Showdown," a unique event set to debut Friday, January 13.

The weekly handicapping contest will feature Mark Simons, the in-house handicapper at SportsOptions, matched against friends and supporters of EOG in a five-game handicapping competition for a winner-take-all purse of $500.

This weekend's showdown features Simons squaring off against EOG contributor "dsethi," a 27-year-old college hoop handicapper living in the Bay Area.

Invitations to the event will be determined by a panel of EOG staffers including head moderator KingRevolver, new contest coordinator Jack Stewart, executive coordinator EOGMike and yours truly. Each staff member will be asked to publish a list of 12 recommended contestants. Here's a rundown of my dozen invitees: dsethi, Micelli, tripp, brians, gynecologist, railbird, Heim, joeybagofdonuts, jjgold (SBR), Jimmy Shivers (The Rx), Alan Boston and Edward Golden.

"The SportsOptions Showdown" will be presented every Friday night at 10:00 Pacific as part of The EOG Sports Hour, a one-hour radio program dedicated to the hearts and minds of sports bettors everywhere. Past editions of The EOG Sports Hour are available for downloading at www.eogradio.com.

Rick Allec, president of SportsOptions, will appear on tonight's radio program (January 6) to further explain the special promotion, discuss the latest happenings in the worldwide sports betting industry and detail a special offer available to new subscribers of SportsOptions(www.sportsoptions.com), a sports information tool providing the latest pointspreads, lightning-quick score updates and reliable injury information via your computer or mobile device.

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Selections inside)

I'd love to see the SHOWDOWN become an automatic Must Listen event every Friday nite on KLAV just as was the case when JK's MONEY TALKS show aired. Wouldn't mind hearing a singing commercial for SportsOptions either, much like the Leroys jingle adapted from Hank Williams' I've Been Everywhere. One of those songs you gotta keep singing once it gets into your head.

Looking rough for dsethi before a game of his even tips off.

Simons with an easy winner in Tennessee, and a blowout best bet win (Not over, but FSU up 26 with 12 to go..think it's safe to call the W)

Simons also has the TB unless George Mason wins by 44+. His best bet covered by an impressive 39.5 points.

Hopefully dsethi sweeps the board though.

Looks like Mark went 3-2 with a 37 point cushion on the margin of victory on his best bet?

Correct (39.5-point cushion).

Solid day for the in-house handicapper at SportsOptions.

Both contestants are guaranteed a winning record with Best Bet victories.

Presentations were excellent and so too are the results.

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Selections inside)

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Selections inside)

The SportsOptions Showdown Round One is coming right down to the wire. Mark Simons in at 3-2 and a with a blowout winner on his best bet (Florida State +6.5 wins 90-57). Dsethi currently at 3-1 and his best bet was also a winner (George Mason -4 wins 89-83). The tie breaker is the biggest pointspread best bet winner so Dsethi needs a winner with TCU +10 to finish at 4-1 and pocket $500 from SportsOptions. Kudos to Simons and Dsethi for a terrific job of handicapping the Saturday card. D.J. Dalamar up next Friday in round two.

Damn it Dsethi....I had you going 5-0.....what's up son?:cheers

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Selections inside)

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Selections inside)

EOG contributor Dsethi, the big underdog early on after Mark Simons' best bet winner, Florida State +6.5, smashed the Tar Heels, 90-57. But Dsethi gets the cash, finishing with a 4-1 mark to 3-2 for Simons. The SportsOptions Showdown Round One in the books with picks at 70%--not too shabby!! D.J. Dalamar has a tough act to follow next Friday. Guessing that the KLAV (1230 AM) ratings are just going to get better and better with each coming show. Kudos to JK and David Glisan for delivering a quality hour of sports radio five nights a week.

:cheers

GUEST LIST.....The initial lineup for "The SportsOptions Showdown" is set.

Twelve EOG contributors have been selected to compete over the first three months of the unique event with an interesting twist scheduled for April.

EOG contest coordinator Jack Stewart earlier today announced the dozen participants who will challenge Mark Simons of SportsOptions in a one-on-one handicapping showdown for a weekly purse of $500. The head-to-head showdowns will be featured every Friday night as part of The EOG Sports Hour (www.eogradio.com).

Simons, a 30-year veteran of the handicapping wars, worked many years for Jim Feist and Dana Corbo (Don Best) before landing a position as the in-house handicapper at SportsOptions. Simons figures to provide tough opposition for the EOG faithful.

Here's the schedule for the first three months of the event:

JANUARY 13 - DSETHI

JANUARY 20 - DJ DALAMAR

JANUARY 27 - MICELLI

FEBRUARY 3 - RAILBIRD

FEBRUARY 10 - HEIM

FEBRUARY 17 - WEINKE TO WARRICK

FEBRUARY 24 - JOEYBAGADONUTS

MARCH 2 - TRIPP

MARCH 9 - RJT721

MARCH 16 - DIOGEE

MARCH 23 - BRIANS

MARCH 30 - XBAGGYPANTS

Stewart, replacing Tuckman as EOG's contest coordinator, will conduct a handicapping contest during March to decide the four contestants in April.

"I want old visitors and new visitors alike to view our website as all-inclusive. At EOG, everyone is someone," said Stewart. "To combat the perception of cliques or elitism, the qualifying contest in March will be open to all registered EOG members, allowing everyone a chance to compete for $500 against Mark Simons of SportsOptions."

Simons was 3-2 with an easy best bet winner (Florida State +6.5 over North Carolina).

I upgraded Mark's power rating after last week's performance.
