what is the problem with grading by units won?

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Mark Simons v DJ Dalamar)

Using units won to grade the results Simons would have won round two of the SHOWDOWN over DJ Dalamar. The point of any contest is to set the rules and stick to them. We used Best Win Percentage--time to argue what's the best way to judge the contest need to be made before the event starts. I think win percentage is still the best way to go, however, I kind of like Computer Bob's points idea. Definitely food for thought for future contests.

Micelli, the Showdown picks can be Saturday games for college hoops or the NBA using Pinnacle lines this Friday at 9:30 p.m. Las Vegas time. Good luck to you, sir!

I've always thought win percentage was easier to explain to sports betting newcomers than discussing units won (risking 1.1 units for 1).

Mark: 0-1
Micelli: 1-3

mic needs to take down his bb. if he can win that play by a decent amount he can put himself in a good spot still

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Mark Simons v DJ Dalamar)

It's official. EOG contributor, Micelli, has won round three of the SportsOptions Showdown. Micelli finished at 2-3 but saved his best for last with a BEST BET win on Oral Roberts/UMKC OVER 132.5. Final score, OR 77-67. Mark Simons sits at 1-3 with Utah + 12.5 pending, but with Simons' BEST BET (BYU - 3) falling to St. Marys, Micelli is $500 richer thanks to our sponsor, www.SportsOptions.com

Unimpressive showing from Simon's thus far. Back to back weeks 2-3 is good enough to take home the $500

The SportsOptions Showdown is quickly becoming The SportsOptions Giveaway.

Simons is due to roll a 5-0 just in time to quiet the critical Railbird.

THE SPORTSOPTIONS SHOWDOWN......EOG contributor Railbird, a controversial figure whose commentary fails to inspire many members of our online community, will be the featured guest tonight in a one-on-one handicapping contest featuring Mark Simons, the in-house handicapper at SportsOptions. "Birdie" has a chance to win $500, compliments of Rick Allec's company. Railbird claims he is a prohibitive favorite (-230) to beat Simons in the five-game showdown. The SportsOptions Showdown airs as part of The EOG Sports Hour tonight and every Friday night at 10:00 Pacific. The show can be heard live from Las Vegas on KLAV-AM 1230 (www.klav1230am.com).

Re: The SportsOptions Showdown (Mark Simons v Railbird)

Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas and the natives are restless at EOG. Take it from a guy who at 70 years old should be setting a better example. Can we please all get along guys? Life is way too short and it just isn't worth it. That being said, good luck to Railbird and Mark Simons tonight. Prediction: It's going to take a 4-1 80% (or better) performance to get the SHOWDOWN cash. LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!
