The 'V' In Vaccaro Stands For Vegas Again....

Jimmy Vaccaro is returning to Las Vegas from his current post at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. Rivers Casino is owned by Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming.

The 73-year-old bookmaking icon is resuming his marketing and promotional role at Las Vegas’s South Point sportsbook at the end of July.

A top-level South Point Hotel Casino Spa executive told Penn Bets exclusively that the legendary bookmaker’s return to Las Vegas is, in large part, prompted by the ongoing illness of current South Point sportsbook director Chris Andrews.

An unsubstantiated rumor is Bert Osborne coming back too....property not revealed yet. From what I understand....East
coast books pay scale nothing close to Vegas.

cant wait to talk to him next month. Talked to him in March and talked about Pittsburgh and Trafford where he is from. This is before he took the job in Pittsburgh. I want to find out how the Pittsburgh sportsbook is coming along.

Heard through the grapevine that Chris Andrews is in very poor health.

A good guy, a nice guy.

According to Micah Roberts announcement soon where Bert Osborne is headed in Vegas.....He doesn't get enough
credit. He put the South Point book on the map which gets lost now with all the VSIN hype at the hotel.

I've always liked Bert Osborne.

He made a lot of money for Michael Gaughan at the Gold Coast and The Orleans for many years.

I remember his one-minute television spots prior to Monday Night Football on the local ABC affiliate.

The cocktail waitresses at the Gold Coast liked Bert too.

I just finished his book and I was going to tell him how awesome it was. I had no idea he grew up in the same towns I use to hang out. I will say a prayer for him!!

Sorry to hear he's struggling John, had many good conversations with him in past years and always liked him.

Jimmy, who has some skeletons in his closet everyone loves, Bert a straight shooter, whose only crime was moving
numbers when the screen moved, everyone hates.

Bert also threw out Railbird from the SouthPoint for bothering the cowboys and scalping tickets on the property.....

Will never forget the very difficult question you presented to Bert when the three of us were shooting the breeze a few years back.

By the way, there is no need to promote at SouthPoint, the place is packed hourly...…….and the management in charge does a great job at handling risk.

JV will simply be a figurehead collecting a nice paycheck.

I would lean slightly to the NO, only because of the massive amount of out of town people they get in two areas...…...

1. CONVENTIONS and SPORTS ACTIVITIES

2. The CALIFORNIA crowd coming and going to Vegas.

Having said that, hoards of locals in the place daily, including myself(live 2.7 miles away)

is SP considered a local place?

Good question.

Beautiful mix of locals and mostly savvy California tourists.

I'd label South Point a locals joint on weekdays and a tourist spot on weekends.

Fabulous Michael Gaughan organization.

Michael learned his lessons well.

No parking fees, good food at decent prices, a sports book separate from the race book, safe and clean.

Oh yes.

It was at a time when South Point had outlets in various spots around town.

South Point would accept bigger wagers at some locations when serving as the casino's sports book proxy.
