Jon has a pleasing voice.

Steve Petrella of The Action Network is this week's guest.

I was initially confused when Jon said Steve Petrella was making his weekly debut.

But the show is titled "The Weekly."

Now I get it.

Jon was looking for Harry Reid or John Madden stories.

Captain Jack had no personal stories, but he mentioned Chris Andrews's story on Harry Reid.

Andrews received a letter from Reid upon getting the job at South Point a few years ago.

Captain Jack touting a pen, the Pilot-V ball.

Loves to take notes while betting sports.

Captain Jack is 9-2 with NFL RSW totals right now with eight wagers pending.

The late Groovinmahoovin gets a mention.

He passed away in 2017 or 2018, says Captain Jack.

Groovin was very brash, according to Captain Jack.

Now that's an understatement.

Groovin had a good heart but he had some demons, said Jack.

It's too bad he's not still with us, said Jon.

This show focuses more on the business of betting and not so much with the act of betting.

Steve Petrella is previewing the launch of online sports betting in New York.

Four online sportsbooks will launch in New York this Saturday morning -- DraftKings, Caesars, FanDuel and BetRivers.

FanDuel is expected to be first at 9:00 in the morning.

Petrella feels FanDuel and DraftKings have a big edge over the competition because of their name recognition.

Captain Jack with a good line about sharp guys and the "aspirational" sharp guy.

Excellent distinction.

Petrella talks about the huge population and the "cultural significance" of launching in New York.

Petrella thinks operators like WynnBet and PointsBet will struggle in New York.

Jon asks, "Will the online sports betting launch in New York be smooth or bumpy or somewhere in between?"

Everything will be fine, predicts Petrella.

Post time for the second race at Santa Anita is coming up.

I'll listen to the rest of the podcast sometime this weekend.

Petrella worked at MLB Network in his early 20's.

I assume he's about 30 years old.
