Three NCAAF plays from Bobby the Owl

Bobby's been on fire lately.

The man spends eight hours a day handicapping college football and college basketball.

Hard to believe, he's in his early 80's.

While some veteran gamblers are sour on sports betting or simply beaten down over time, Bobby says if you put in the work, you should win.

I love his work ethic and optimistic outlook.

He and I will be attending all the conference basketball tournaments in Las Vegas during the month of March.

His three top plays for Saturday:

153 Northwestern +11 over Iowa

182 Alabama -23.5 over Mississippi State

183 New Mexico +13.5 over Air Force (Full disclosure: Bobby bet UNM +14 which is still available at Caesars locations)

I'm betting "The Owl" wins at least two of his three selections.

One last note about Bobby: We recently visited the coffee shop at Longhorn Hotel and Casino where Bobby showed his old-school stripes by tipping the hostess before she escorted us to our table.

Went to Red Lobster with a very charismatic friend of mine this summer on an all you can eat shrimp fest night. First thing he did after we sat down was tipped the girl a $5 and told her this isn't anything to do with your regular tip, but we don't want to have our plates empty of shrimp till we're ready to leave. She didn't let us down and the tables around us ran out and gave us funny looks while we shoved shrimp down our throats all thru dinner. I have not been back to an AYCE restaurant since but this was definitely a winning tip.

Love the last two, kinda think Iowa shuts NW down for the first. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting situation for Northwestern.

The Wildcats win the West with victories at home against Minnesota AND on the road against Illinois in the final two weeks of the regular season.

Of course, they would love to beat Iowa in Iowa City, however the way the West Division lays out, a win is not necessary.

NU was in a similar spot last week against Notre Dame where the non-conference game was not a do-or-die situation.

Coach Fitz rested some players last week in order to have them ready for the Big Ten stretch drive.

The critical question: Is the game in Iowa part of NU's stretch drive?

I'm an average tipper for average service and a great tipper for great service.

I drive in exit on valet drivers, they are all up in arms, but a $10 bill shuts them up fast.

The more I read about MSU's great defense (2 TDs in it's opponents last 51 possessions) the more I suspect they're going to get smoked. SEC Network does a great job puffing the SEC non elite.

Thanks JK and Bobby for the info.
I’m most partial to the IOWA fade.

These should be stickied here weekly.
Bobby is the maven. Be well sir.

My problem is when I get crappy service when mystery shopping I STILL have to tip at least 15% so I don't "stand out" and I hate it but I have no choice but to do it

Halftime scores: Air Force 21 New Mexico 17; Northwestern 0 Iowa 3; Alabama 21 Mississippi State 0.

Here's hoping I don't upset EOG contributor Ray Luca.

He despises partial scores.

AFA totally outplayed New Mexico.

A 2-1 yardage edge and New Mexico's second-half touchdown was a fluke.
