The UFC is in Boston and on ESPN 2 this Friday night, so check your local listings for start times.
Dominick Reyes versus Chris Weidman at Light heavyweight is the main event. To me, the winner of this one could see themselves in the Jon Jones conversation for their next match-up. Weidman is obviously a former middleweight champion but he was a big middleweight and his body may react better to the lesser weight cut now. He has already trash talked Jones and if he looks good against Reyes, he would be the highest name recognition opponent for Jones, IMO.
Reyes is undefated at 11-0 and he has notched a few notable wins already. In his lasst two fights he was forced to go the distance in wins over Volkan Oezdemir and Ovince St Preaux but he started with the UFC on a solid streak of stopping his opponents. Reyes and Johnny Walker are the two "up and comers" in the weight class. A win would move Reyes to 12-0 and IMO, the UFC should not stick him in with Jones just yet. If he stos Weidman and is impressive, he may be the fast track choice. Johnny Walker sitsin the same boat as Reyes. The UFC wont do it, but Reyes vs Walker is probably the way to go if Reyes wins.
Should be a good fight, Reyes is the current favorite. If you can get Weidman at +200 that is more appealing than what is currently listing as a very close fight.
Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens get the co-feature spot. This match ended prematurely in Mexico after an eye poke, so kudos to both fighters and the UFC for getting together on short notice to mke things right. The eye poke has ended several recent fights and this is the only one that the UFC was able to re-make and put back tigether on short notice. It was a near pik 'em fight the firt time around and the odds are still very tight for this second offering.
Does anyone care about Greg Hardy in MMA? The former NFL'er is back in a featured bout. This would be OK if he was in the preliminary portion of the card but they give him TV spots ever fight out. Here he meets Ben Sosoli in about that is expected to net Hardy notch another win.
The weigh-ins will be streamed THU afternoon, check local listings. Below are the current lines (WED) from 5dimes. The entire card is listed and over/under lines are also up. Check bck later intheweek fr changes and obviously check your sports book for more favorable lines...
