Vegas May 1st- May 28th (All bets inside)

In this thread I will be posting every bet I make in a land based casino for the next month. Amounts, price, everything. I expect a 7k-10k profit.

Here we go:

Minnesota un 9 -115 2300/2000
Spurs to win series +125 1000/1250

(Both at the Orleans)

Man I hate having paper tickets floating around. Much easier for a scatter brained guy like me to just play online.

If you have an iphone, there are apps that are great for taking pictures of your tickets and saving them in folder.

If not, and just regular camera phone, I would still recommend taking pics of all outstanding tickets then erase when tickets lose or you cash them. Hopefully the latter.

Re: Vegas May 1st- May 28th (All bets inside)

See if casino at which you are staying has a safe deposit box vs safe in your room-one nice thing is your players card * should be on your ticket if it is thrown away or lost. gl

Another great idea. However we rented a condo for the month. It is around Trop/Decatur.

We do have a safe here. I will just photo the tickets and throw em in the safe. Hopefully I have plenty to cash. :houra

Cool Travis, should be a good thread. Unless the market swings back, you have a nice +EV position on the Minnesota under. And not that it would interest you, but that Spurs series price is scalpable all over now. Not a bad way to start the trip.

I have a question and I know it's going to make me sound like an idiot but I'll ask it anyway - what happens if you lose a winning ticket? I've gotta believe in this day and age they can verify it for you with their computer records, etc. And I'd assume that if you're a regular and they know you, it wouldn't be too much of a problem. And if you did lose it, would a picture on your phone be enough verification?

Sorry for the dumb question. I'm still a couple months away from being old enough to step into the Vegas casinos. 2348ji23e

One more rookie question - are you allowed to bring laptops into the sportsbooks/do they have wireless? In the era of iPhones, there isn't much they can really do to stop you from having access to the internet if you want it but just curious what the general policy is. I could see a place like the M that offers the live betting not wanting people to have their laptops with all their spreadsheets open.

Last one, Travis, I promise.

Alright, I lied, one more - what time do the Vegas books put out the next day MLB lines and are they 10c (up until 160 or wherever they break)? I usually play the openers at Olympic/Bookmaker (for totals) and BetJam for sides (dimelines) and they come out around 3-4 PM. I think Pinnacle also releases lines around 4. Do the Vegas shops wait for these lines to get ironed out a little or do they offer similar opportunities?

Re: Vegas May 1st- May 28th (All bets inside)

I'll STEP UP AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS 1 BY 1. pardon my computer writing skills. Lost tickets - if you lose a ticket while in say-old Caesars place in Tahoe. First report it to a supervisor-he would submit a lost ticket claim form-after 3 months if the ticket was not claimed it would be paid to you-he you would put-date - time-amount-who you wagered on-which window etc. now thats going by the book-if you were a regular, or known customer-or if writer remembered for sure- you would be paid after the event-at the supervisors own risk-meaning he better be sure. You know why? Because a wiseguy could be beside the window-listening while you made the wager-come up later and give the same info-you just did. and it did happen. That is why by using your players card - with your account # on the ticket helps out in these days. We would drop 25k easy some months in unclaimed tickets-and guys the casino did not reap the benefits of this -NEVADA did. gl all

This happened to me several years ago at a Station property. I bet a 1H NCAA Hoops game for a dime and lost the ticket. I went back to the window 15 mins later and they told me that they didnt know what happened and that they would look into it. After the 1H was final and I knew the ticket was a winner I really started to panic.

I called the the Gaming Commission and they had a field agent to the casino within 45 minutes. The casino paid me within 15 mins of the agent being there. The Nevada Gaming Commission does not fuck around, at all.

They frown on it but cant stop it. They do have signs saying no phones at the counter but that is understandable. You can talk all you want now but dont look for them to take a real bet from you if you are using the phone or a laptop against their wishes.

The Coast properties open first. In fact they are already open for tomorrow's business. They take 5k on sides and 2k on totals and RL's. The best time to attack is from 8-10 AM local time when the offshore market is fired up and really moving. If you are coordinated and fast you can catch them sleeping on some fast moving lines.

Go Twinkies under.

At the M during the daytime there are always a number of guys with them up and running, many with Don Best or G&J. On one side of the book they have power outlets, on the other they don't. So there are even "premium" seats to have there. Weird place, its like a convention of pros and wannabe pros everyday. Some of the guys with laptops seem to be guarding their secrets with their lives, if you walk near them they suddenly start hunching over them. Others when you ask a question to someone else will try to join in and even show you stuff they have worked up in some spreadsheet on their laptops.

In general I don't think books even care anymore if you have them. You see them in just about every book during the day. Wireless reception is hit or miss. You can get Clear wireless in Las Vegas and have a 4G connection in most areas on a laptop, but there are dead spots all over including my Vegas house :doh1

When you are broke like me you take what you can get. :+waving-5

If things get bad you can go fight the other homeless guys on each corner for the spot to hold up a sign and ask for money. Only in Vegas do they have turf wars over who gets to panhandle from the prime locations.

Re: Vegas May 1st- May 28th (All bets inside)

let me tell you one thing about gaming control--most people here know 10 times the stuff they do when it comes to sports--they are bean counters--your sportsbook gives the rules to GAMING CONTROL WHEN LICENSE IS GIVEN-- It is the books responsibility to follow those to the t. No exceptions-or you set a president as they call it. ie higher limits on games for one but not another-simple example. The gaming commision can site you/or even shut you down. ie PARK TAHOE SPORTSBOOK-- sold later to CAESARS. A BOOK IS GIVEN NOTICE WHEN A REVIEW IS COMING--the questions are pretty simple-it is like a 3nd grader asking a college grad. about addition. HERE is a example for you guys--Sir what would you do if a writer wrote an exacta in a non exacta race and the horses came in 1st and second? How would you handle this keeping the rules given us--and keeping the customer satisfied?

Good you didn't pick Swenson/Twain area. Plenty of apartments there and close to strip but that area has gone downhill.
Trop/Mary near UNLV not bad.

Sorry didn't see this until now, but looks like it got answered pretty good in the thread. One thing I'll add is that as soon as you realize you lost at ticket, notify the supervisor immediately, and they will block the ticket. If someone finds it and cashes it, you're screwed. Also, every book treats these situations differently.
