Crash course on teasers:
Play 2-team 6-pt teasers at even money.
WSEX, Hollywood, Millenium has these. If you are a small player, WSEX has the best rules (tie+loss = tie; other books treat that as a loss). Don't bother with 5-dimes, since their alternate lines screw up "wise-guy" teasers.
Teams you want to tease: home favorites, from -7 to -8.5. Only tease -7 if the dog moneyline at Pinnacle is at least +265. Dogs after week 4 in NFL: from +1.5 to +2.5.
For each team you like to tease, allocate one unit. How ever many teams you are teasing, either round robin them (so your TOTAL risk = # teams; i.e. 4 teasable teams with 6 possible plays, you risk 4 units total), or simplify if you're lazy (4 teams: play 2 teasers, risking 2 unist on each).
NEVER tease totals. EVER.
On monster teasers (10-pt teasers; ties lose). Shop to get -110. You want to play home teams at +1, -10 or -10.5; or visitors at +1 or +1.5. Pass on the visiting favorites. NEVER tease totals.
For most players, wait until game-day. Unless you understand how lines will move, make your plays as late as you can. If you understand the movements, you are often better off passing on the teasers, and playing the team on the side.
