I don't know what the current landscape of prospects for 2026/28 are, but if there's the potential for more players like CC and Bueckers to emerge, I'd do it in a heartbeat. The Fever have been basement dwellers for YEARS, and all it took was one pick, one player, to make them the best team in the league, or at least capable of dominating ANY team. A'ja has been the most dominant player in the league for the last few, but with a looming rebuild on the horizon, I'd jump on it, then look to ship Brittney to a playoff contending team for another pick. He/She/They are just a name at this stage of his/her/their career.

Paopao has looked good this year. I initially 'caught' her name in reference to an old CFL player and head coach, Joe Paopao. No relation.

Aja getting moved feels like she is making this demand as she sees where this Aces team is going and being a title contender isn't it.

I would also see if anyone wants gray or lloyd. I'd keep jackie young as the main stay.

Then rebuild city.

The touchy issue is if it's a rebuild I don't believe Hammon is the one to do it.
She took over the Aces in the 2022 season after Bill Laibeer had the Aces as the #1 seed in back to back seasons.

She took over a Ferrari and was told "stop crashing it into trees" like Bill had. Bill had lost twice in the semis and once in the finals.

Becky isnt a rebuilder.

They lost their mojo when they traded Plum. In many respects she was more valuable than Aja.

She wasn't more valuable in a player point spread but yes she ran the point which allowed young and Gray to play off the ball.

I don't know how Lloyd has been this under performing. I guess not having the ball in her hands every possession is a big change.

Sportrmylife, on a different subject, the Sky much improved lately. Have they improved their guard play?

They are 3-7 their last 10

Reese has been much better over the last five games in terms of fg%.

In terms of guard play. The number say it hasn't got better in terms of assist/turniver ratio.

They have been quicker in the half court when it comes to getting a shot up but that has been since Reese and Cardosa (she is gone now) being quicker with the offensive shots.

Atkins is a swinging door on defense and she leads the team in minutes played

Chicago Sky GM Jeff Pagliocca and Courtney Vandersloot go back a long way.

Pagliocca trained Vandersloot years ago before he became a WNBA executive.

Pagliocca made his name as a player development coach.

I believe Chicago signed "Sloot" as a personal favor.

She's 36 and she was benched in Game 5 of last year's WNBA Finals between the Liberty and Lynx.

Pagliocca's acquisitions are suspect.

The Sky backcourt is not impressive.

Ariel Atkins puts up numbers, but she doesn't make any of her teammates better.

Kia Nurse is yesterday's news, Rachel Banham is overweight and Hailey Van Lith has a lot to learn.

What's more, Pagliocca's two coaching hires (Weatherspoon and Marsh) are troubling.

Important note
Aja Wilson went down with an injury in the 2Q and never returned

No middle presence hurt bad.

Aja is worth 7 pts to this Aces team.

I'm warming up to the Minnesota Lynx to win it all.

Looks like they have the inside track to homecourt advantage.

Love the Lynx coaching staff over the Liberty coaching staff.

I see the Liberty at +155 and the Lynx at +225.

Those prices should be reversed.

I had the Liberty to beat the Lynx last season in the WNBA Finals and I felt lucky to win that bet after a decisive Game 5 in New York.

The WNBA Finals this season is a Best-of-7.

WNBA finals will be a best of seven with the 2-2-1-1-1 format.

No dates have been set for when the finals will start but game 7 will be no later than Oct 19th (according to the WNBA key dates page).

Will be interesting if they spread the games out with 2 dates between travel days or just one?

The bench might be very key here.

Big slate of morning/day games today:

For the evening game, I'm already on BOTH Paige and Angel OVER their Pts/Reb/Ass totals. Paige is 28.5 (-110) and Angel 33.5 (-125). Angel absolutely on fire right now.

I'll take a stab at the Lynx at -7 on the road (gross), considering both Sabally and Copper remain out.

Chicago -1
This number might be based on records and not how teams are playing
Chicago is 6-0 ats the last 6 and the last four were all competitive games on the road.

They get a Dallas team who can't defend the paint and the red hot angel "mebound" (she trademarked this) is playing fantastic.

Seattle laying 17 for a game that started at 8am was way too much

They started better in the 1Q then faded with each quarter.

Cardoso in for the Sky but now Reese is questionable. Hard to imagine the line doesn't jump if she's out, but it remains basically a pick em.

I rip on Becky Hammon plenty as I believe and see her as a below average at best coach who can't make in game adjustments to save her life. She wins by simply have superior athletes on the floor.

Today the Aces lost a 13 point halftime lead at the Mystics today. So naturally this would be a great spot to rip on Hammon for losing a double-digit lead losing the game 70-68.

Well that wasn't the case. This purely falls on Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray, and anyone else on the court.

Missed lay-up and missed lay-up in the second half. Running great sets only to not handle a perfect bounce pass on a pick and roll that turns into a turnover. Three Aces in the paint and one Mystic player out-rebounding them all for the put back for the lead with under a minute left in the game.

The Aces, without Wilson, are way way too guard scoring focused. They have zero offensive potential in the paint unless it is an easy offensive rebounding put back.

Today the Aces were 3-25 from three-point range. They lost by two points.

A'ja Wilson is out for a while now. this is going to be a team that isn't going to make the playoffs and if they don't tearing this team apart is going to be a serious option. Wilson, Young, and Lloyd have some trade value right now.

The Aces still play good defense, their guards are physical and move well.

On another note, not many talk about Mystic rookie Citron, not a good game tonight but she's not afraid to go to the hole and draw fouls.

Any thoughts on Fever game by the beaver ball sharpies?

Looks like opponents are going to just isolate CC on defense, whoever she's on is going to make her work.

Good way to stop/slow down good offense is make them work their ass off on defense.

Getting her in foul trouble wouldn't hurt either although I don't remember her ever fouling out of a game.

Could be wrong on that, lucky to find my keys in the morning so memory is not my friend.

Always been a Citron fan, works hard yet always has an almost bored look on her face, LOL.

Usually not a lot of emotion in her game but in a good way. Let's call it poise.

Irish arguably had the best 1-2-3 group in the nation last year.

Yes yes yes.

Love Sonia Citron's game.

Like Patrick mentioned, she's a cool customer.

Good length and she'll get stronger as the years pass.

Fundamentally-sound and she plays hard and smart on both ends of the floor.

What's more, she sees all nine players on the court.

And added plus: Citron is the sex symbol in this draft class.

A true morena.

You can have Paige Bueckers and/or Hailey Van Lith.

Anyone know how long Aja will be out?

Three pieces of good news for the Aces.

1) Wilson sprained her wrist, no broken bones.

2) Wilson injured her right wrist, she's obviously left-handed.

3) The All-Star break arrives next weekend.

No timetable set for Wilson's return.

Playing Fever UNDER 92.5 TT today. If this line isn't 'right on', Indiana fails to cover it by 10 points, considering how they're playing....just a mess.
