Dale Senior Story.

Went up to northern MN with a old high school friend that does
some work on my cars to help him prepare his lake home for winter.
Anyway he brings his brother and his brothers neighbor. We get
to talking, turns out he was a crew chief and worked on some cars
for Dick Trickle. He had spent a couple seasons living in his Wisc
home. They ran a circuit Sat thru Thurs. MN Elko Sat. Raceway Park
MN Sun and then Wisc Mon thru Thur. Friday would be a day to pull
a engine set up the car or fix what ever was broken. Ok there were
some big name drivers making this circuit. B Labonti, Mark Martin, Etc.
Dale Earnhardt joined in in the early 70s. The first time Dale came to
Elko he knew there would be a mob around Dale getting his autograph.
Rick my friend brought a suitcase from home and walked over to
Suite Case Jake Elder and had him sign his suite case with a black
permanent maker. Says its still in his basement. PS said Mark Martin
was into drugs and Marks driving career toke a bad turn for awhile.
