THE FASTEST TRACK ON THE SCHEDULE
Crawford, Sprague to reach truck series milestone tonight! Every time Mobilian Rick Crawford and Jack Sprague get behind the wheel in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, they set a record for most career races. Tonight in the American Commercial Lines 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the racers are scheduled to make their 250th truck starts. In the 13-year history of the series, only two other drivers -- Terry Cook and Dennis Setzer -- have made more than 200 starts. Crawford and Sprague have reached the milestone by different paths: Sprague's career has spanned two models, six numbers and five owners, and he missed the 2002 and 2003 seasons to compete in the Cup and Busch series. Crawford has raced in every truck event but one since 1997, driving the No. 14 Ford for owner Tom Mitchell's Circle Bar Racing. "A lot of people helped me get here, but without Mr. Mitchell's friendship, support and guidance I wouldn't be here," Crawford said. "Out of all that we've accomplished, I'm proudest of the fact that we did it with one owner and with one manufacturer." To commemorate the 250th race of the Crawford-Mitchell partnership, the No. 14 Power Stroke Diesel Ford will carry a special hood logo in tonight's race. Crawford enters the third event of the season in eighth place in the series standings, 78 points behind Sprague and Mike Skinner, who are tied for first with 355 points. al.com: Everything Alabama |
