"Dare To Be Square" -- Something New From Stray Cat Sports

Caesar and I have been up all night working with Nevada Gaming Control on the possible introduction of a revolutionary new idea in the world of sports toutism starting with Week 2 of the NFL.

The "Dare To Be Square" Club!

I warn you. This is only for a splinter faction of the most militantly jaded gambler-iconoclasts out there. Gone will be the seemingly endless stream of Sharp wisdom which pervades the radio airwaves and Internet message boards! This is for the gambler who is not scared off by the half-point on a key number when he knows in his heart the score is going to be 38-0 anyway. Finally, a club which captures the imagination of every hard-working American who likes to do a little gambling on the weekends!

Stray Cat Sports saw the need. And we filled the void.

How we pick games is simple. We have only one tenet. We only take favorites at -3.5 or -7.5 or -10.5 or -14.5.

The Salamanders -6.5? No way.
The Salamanders -7? Nope, not gonna do it.
The Salamanders -7.5?. Stray Cat Sports is all over it.

Without the hook, we don't look.

This will be limited to the NFL where so many games are lined around the 3 and the 7.

This will be interesting.

OK , I have perused the card for Sunday and I am ready to "release" a few plays to "Dare To Be Square" members. These are all, by the way, "twenty-star Games of the Year." There is still time to become a member of the "Dare To Be Square" Club. Cost remains the same as it was for my highly successful and historic Executive Club: Zero.

I have looked for the worst line I could find on each of the games. If I couldn't find a line bad enough, I just added the disadvantageous 1/2 point to the key number....

Here we go..

Steelers -10.5
Colts - 7.5
Rams - 3.5
Saints -3.5
Jaguars -10.5
Lions -3.5
Cowboys -3.5
Broncos - 10.5
Eagles - 7.5

Thanks. I am not sure what I do for a living. Jeff Haney, in the "Las Vegas Sun" described me as a "gadfly." Dave Tuley, in the "Daily Racing Form" wrote that I was a "curmudgeon." I cherish to this day both descriptions.

The gadfly/curmudgeon job description is one that exists in a very narrow job market. Hopefully, I can find meaningful work before I grow up.

As poor as Internet gambling advice continues to be, why shouldn't "Dare To Be Square" members be allowed to share in the success? We are a heady, forthright group.

The unremittingly, unfailing truth to sports gambling in that my cat can pick out games as well you can. That does not bode well for my future.

As long as we are being square, why no teasers?

Believe me Shrink, nobody loves teasers more than I do. While everybody agonizes over the half-point in football games, with the ten point teaser they give you twenty half-points. I am helpless to refuse this offer.

It is as addictive as crack.

I might have to add teasers as an adjunct to the "Dare To Be Square" package. Maybe a "Caesars's Teasers" subset. The little guy knows his teasers.

Unfortunately, Caesar has, "by accident," jammed the calculator with furballs and rendered it useless so I cannot tally up the wealth at this time. Besides, there is one more game to go for complete results.
