ESPN reports that Gates faces 4-6 months of recovery, but Gates has set no timetable to resume playing. "It may be the beginning of training camp and it may be the middle of the season," Gates said. The Chargers called the injury a dislocated toe during the playoffs, but Gates revealed that it was a "torn plantar plate" in his foot. This will be a situation to monitor.
