In the beginning (1968) John Rutsey was Rush's drummer, appearing on the band's first single and album. He left the band shortly after the debut album was released in 1974, because he was diabetic and was concerned about the affect of long tours on his health. In fact, when he left Rush, he left the music business altogether. Rutsey died in his sleep on Sunday (May 11) apparently of a heart attack that was the result of his diabetes. He was 55. ![]() Rutsey played with Rush up until 1974, That's Rutsey on the Zeppelin-esque favorites 'Working Man' and 'Finding My Way', he was 55. |

| Yeah I figured...I wrote it that way on purpose, learned it in my sensationalism posting 101 class. Favorite Rush song : The Spirit of Radio I've seen Rush 4 times, always a great show...Rush has the one drum solo you make sure not to be in the bathroom for . ![]() |

My best friend back in school used to listen to & play the drums to Rush. God it drove me crazy & I know everyone has their own taste of music such as you rockers, but jeeeeeez I don't know how anyone can tolerate listening to this groups lead singer........ ![]() |

Great band. Saw them long ago in Hartford and was at the Mohegan Sun the other night and saw Rush advertised for a coming show among others. We usually play guess the ticket price and were somewhat surprised that Rush was one of the more expensive seats to buy. |

Another thing about Rush that IMO is uinique, they don't write those typical love songs that are so predictable, very different style and a great one at that.... I mean who could make a song interesting about Tree names for God sake, only Rush? ![]() | |
