My sleeper squad is UMBC. They got hosed seeding wise but they have been red hot. They are getting 5 goals at 5Dimes versus UVA.

Somebody needs to stop Duke just to make this a little more interesting. I won't be able to handle three weekends of Quint jacking off Matt Danowski, Zack Greer, and that kid from Duxbury whose name I can't remember right now.

I am planning to attend the finals in Foxboro--incredible weekend of lacrosse. Two D1 semifinal games on Sat; D2 and D3 finals on Sun; and the D1 championship on Monday.

It's amazing to me that Americand and ESPN will watch and follow college lacrosse (LACROSSE!!) and virtually ignore the NHL playoffs going on at the same time. For the playoff season, there have been some truly memorable games so far in the NHL and yet people don't talk about it. It makes this Canadian scratch his head. You like hard hitting in lacrosse, it's better and faster in hockey. Goals? Plenty of those in the NHL. Drama of a tournament? Toughest championship to win is on with the Stanley Cup. People from Minnesota, and other pockets of the US get it - not sure why no one else does. Oh well.

THIS is where i truly miss Bobby Bryde

he would send out via e-mail his picks for College Lacrosse (as well as other NCAA Sports) with comments and all

i enjoy watching the title game but for the 2nd year in a row - it will be done w/o any e-mails from Bobby with his picks

Lacrosse has a hockey-like following (in fact, most lacrosse players/fans are big hockey fans as well, particularly given the geography of the traditional lacrosse hotbeds), but it is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. More kids are playing lacrosse every year (something like an 11% growth rate last season) and it is spreading to "other" parts of the country. I realize that, being the national sport of Canada, lacrosse may be more established in Canada and not growing as quickly.

I coach a high school team here in Florida and we're converting a lot of great athletes into lacrosse players. That's a lot harder to do in hockey, particularly with those who can't skate.

There is a couple of pro lacrosse leagues, but college lacrosse is the best game in the states. It has been a bit of a cult following--the championship weekends are like annual lacrosse conventions. If they can put a bunch of stoned snowboarders on TV, they can put lacrosse on.

I think the NHL is losing some steam. I love hockey, I grew up playing hockey, I coached some college hockey AND I live in a town that recently won a Stanley Cup, but I just haven't followed the sport all that much in recent years. I'm not 100% sure why, but I haven't been to a game since opening day LAST season. I did watch as much college hockey as I could on TV this season, however.

All that said, there are fewer better sporting events than playoff hockey. But few people know that.

Just finished watching the Navy/UNC game on TiVo. Awesome game! And Ohio State somehow beat Cornell earlier.

UMBC lost 10-9 but easily covered the 5. They were up 2 in the 4th and couldn't hold on at UVA.

Duke will lay a pounding on Ohio State next week.

Should be some great games next week as well. The high school team I coach is playing in a tournament on Saturday, so I'll be running the DVR for those games at Annapolis. Navy hasn't beat Hopkins in forever--it would be a great win if they could pull it out at home.

I think Duke 21-10 counts as a pounding. I'll take Hopkins plus the goals next week and Syracuse to top UVA.

Duke called off the dogs and emptied the bench in the fourth quarter. The margin could have been a lot worse. I haven't finished watching the Syracuse/ND game on the DVR yet, but I was getting score alerts on my cell and it seemed like an exciting game.

Leaning toward Syracuse to win it all, as one of the guys I'm going to the games with played for them. He'll be down on the field during one of the games as the honor the 25th anniversary of the '83 Syracuse national championship team. Duke, however, looks unstoppable.
