Arrow How are we doing?

Please give me feedback so that i can strive to make EOG a better community....

1-How are our Moderators doing overall?

2-Do we have enough contests?

3-Do we allow enough Free Speech, too much or too little?

4-Do you feel at home when posting here?

5-What exactly can we do to make EOG better?

Thanks,

Have a SAFE & HAPPY 4TH of JULY baby!!!

THE SHRINK

NOT SO FAST SHRINK.

1. Mods are excellent

2. Contests, could be a little more simpler. One nighters. Big Reward for tough handicapping.

3. Very easy going on the speech.

4. Not as much bashing, and thread hijacking here.

5. You can make EOG better by dumping Tony Montanna's softball team, and sponoring just a mans....LOL.....I would like to see some of the banner sponsors on here once a day, throwing some kinda daily deals around at the EOG forum. That would interest me.

5-I think you could be less tolerant of BS in the Main Forum at that time, I know I post useless stuff at times. Put out a timing guide for the Main Forum in advance so that you get little to no nonsense about, well so and so, blah-blah-blah got to post; and remove it to the proper forum ASAP. For the understanding here and the visitor it shows both flexible and focused desires.

Think EOG is doing fine but lately a little weird about moving and deleting stuff which was supposed to be the strong suit.

Munich Massacre

The worst tragedy in modern Olympic history

by Mike Morrison

The Munich Olympics in 1972 were marred by terrorism. (Source: AP)

In 1972 the Olympics returned to Germany for the first time since 1936. Back then, Nazism was hitting its stride and Adolf Hitler hoped to use the Games as a way to show off the "superiority" of his Aryan race on a world's stage.
Most Germans hoped the Munich Games in 1972 would at least in some way help to heal the racial wounds caused by Hitler. The world was still rife with political unrest. The Vietnam War raged on, racial tensions in the United States persisted, and violence littered the Middle East. German president Gustav Heinemann welcomed the Olympics as "a milestone on the road to a new way of life with the aim of realizing peaceful coexistence among peoples."
Eight Arab Terrorists

On the morning of September 5, with six days left in the Games, the worst tragedy in Olympic history hit. Eight Arab terrorists stormed into the Olympic village and raided the apartment building that housed the Israeli contingent. Two Israeli athletes were killed and nine more were seized as hostages. They demanded the release of over 200 Palestinians serving time in Israeli jails, along with two renowned German terrorists.
After a day of unsuccessful negotiations, the terrorists collected the hostages and headed for the military airport in Munich for a flight back to the Middle East. At the airport, German sharpshooters opened fire, killing three of the Palestinians. A horrifying gun battle ensued, claiming the lives of all nine of the hostages, along with one policeman and two terrorists.
Controversial Decision

Athletic competition was suspended for 24 hours. During a day of mourning, a memorial service was held at the main stadium in front of 80,000 spectators. In a controversial decision, IOC president Avery Brundage declared, "the Games must go on." And so they did, with the Olympic and national flags flying at half-mast.
The most memorable footage from Munich should have been that of American swimmer Mark Spitz winning his seventh gold medal or 17-year-old Soviet gymnast Olga Korbut wowing the world on the balance beam. Instead, we're left with disturbing photos of terrorists in ski masks and of a policeman standing on the roof of the compound waiting to pounce with a semi-automatic weapon. And ultimately we're left with the video of ABC announcer Jim McKay uttering his fateful words, "They're all gone."

Ken, where were you during all this?

Ken, where were you during all this?
Yes, I was attending a soccer game at the time between East Germany and West Germany...

The place was filled with chaos and confusion when everyone started to find that the Israeli athletes were hijacked by terrorists...

There were hundreds of thousands of people running around and no one knew what to do at the time..

I was only 16 and my parents were not with me...

I got into a taxi after hours of waiting...

I was terrified being a JEW, and being ALONE without my parents...

This is one of the most horrific things i experienced, second only to hearing all of My Mother's stories about being a HOLOCAUST survivor and losing her Father when she was 9...

He was KILLED for steeling an apple off of a truck by another Jew because he was starving to death...

My Mother went through so much chaos and sacrificed a lot. I just can't even magine the pain she has had to deal with her entire life...

Munich was also surreal, especially since I was so unprepared for the hatred that existed back then simply because I was a Jew...

Oh well, life goes on and everyone has sob stories and challenges in life..

I try not to live in the past...

That's a big step for me..

I am grateful for what I have today...

P.S.

On a lighter note, the games were suspended for one day and I left missing one of the greatest Basketball Games ever played in the Olympics because our flight wasn't able to be changed...

mo is active and doing well.
blondie is the lone female, but she rolls well with others..
and the promotion of all comers such as tranny homosexuals such as Texansfan shows how open minded the site is

A Breeders Cup Challenge would be cool for October..

excellent site. better than therx and sbr. covers has probably just as good a collection of talented handicappers, but this format is much better.

as for your specific questions:

1. your mods are great. mo gets a little defensive sometimes but he's got good intentions. blondie/diogee/ballwonder are all excellent.

2. i love the contests, but like everyone else, would never complain with more. it would be cool to see contests sponsered by all of the top-rated books, but i'm well aware you have very little to do with those decisions and that they're often made on the sportsbook's-end. 5dimes, betphoenix, bookmaker...it'd be cool if they sponsored as many contests as betjam, even if they didn't offer as much money. but again, i realize that doesn't have much to do with you, just a comment.

3. you allow enough free speech.

4. yes, this is my gambling forum home. like it more than therx, covers, sbr., etc.

5. keep doing what you're doing, offering contests, showing respect to the posters that haven't given you a reason to not, etc. season-long contests are very fun, imo, you should look into getting several sponsors for various football ones.

Shrink,

The main thing that attracted me to EOG was the way the Mods controlled the bashing. When I used to go to the RX it always amazed and disgusted me how a Capper had to take so much abuse if he did not win 99% of the time. Hell, if a game lost -- what everyone failed to realize was that the capper lost money as well and already felt bad for the loss. But to have to endure 25 negative post on top of that is way to much.

I just never felt like taking the abuse so I did not post a whole lot there. Then I found EOG and immediately felt comfortable and that the mods had this place under control.

The only criticism I have from last year is that I wish the sub-forums would be used instead of the main forum for posting picks.

But compared to most forums I have been to this one is one of the best.
