i hurt my back last year,and i tried the chropractor,and it felt like it was a waste of money.he sugested the pain center.i went,and got three nerve blocks,and that didnt do any good,so i went to have decompressing treatments,and that helped some.it helped my back,but the siatic hurts like a motherfucker.ive been told to have back surgery,but iam scared to death.so i asked the doctor to prescribed me medicine.i take neuroten,flexrile,and oxycodine.my question is this ,how long can you stay on pain meds,without them messing up your kidneys.i have a flower nursey,and some times i will agrevate that nerve.when it hurts bad ,i can take as mush as 5 a day.how many pills are considered normal? thanks

I'd make certain your Physician is familiar with chemical dependency and addiction.

Oxycodone is a very addictive drug. I don't know the extent of your kidney damage so it wouldn't be right to guess the proper dosage or duration of time before you may become dependent on this medication...

I have seen people with very little pre-disposition to addiction become addicited. Oxycodone and hydrocodone are very very dangerous medications to be taking longterm but serve people quite well short-term...

batman......had spinal fusion way back in 1988.........was 42 at the time....had no choice......my back today is stronger than when i was 20......make sure you have a good surgeon and back surgery today is nowhere as bad as it was 20-40 years ago and the safety has improved 2000%................

i thank both of you both guys for responding to my question.i probaly wil have surgery.my mom is a nurse at loris hospital,and she sad she had heard from friends that grandstand at the beach was good,and charleston were good.it scares the hell out of me,when a doctor friend of my mom tells me that back surgery is no big deal,but you need to be carefull who drives the bus.iam glad to hear about your spinal fusion turning out great devil,and i hope it holds up well in years to come.

iam in the same boat as you.my doctor told me that if i kept putting off surgery ,the siactic neverve in my leg would get so bad in my leg, it would do nerve damage to my leg.he sai d i would lose the control of my leg.iam glad your surgery done well.how long did you put off your sugery off,before you had it done?

i know what you are talking about.i might get one.one of the things that has helped me,are decompressions.ii cost me 5,000 for 6 weeks.wilmington is far ,so i think i will have them done at myrtle beach.
