We are all broke?? what world do you live in? People by $4 coffees, they buy $4 gas and at the same rate as $3 gas, They spend $200 a week on eating out! Have $79 a month cell phone calling plans, Pay for the latests electronic stuff, cable, nice clothing, $10 movies! $6 popcorn at movies for cripes sakes. People, especially educated white people have plenty of money. Sure there is some discretionary money that is not there anymore with some higher costs but to think people are broke is not even close.

Im being a little harsh to your post sporstgirl but just raising some other points.

I live in a world where jobs are being lost at an alarming rate. Where the housing market is in a terrible slump. Just this month, the newspaper company I work for has layed off more than 1,000 people.

There have been layoffs for centuries. Mostly due to bad business models or unexpected market forces not from a Democratic congress... not wishing any bad luck or will to those fine people but my feeling is all 1000 will find another position and adventure in life and not go broke.

Housing markets are not in a slump if your a new home buyer and want to buy something half way affordable and not artificially high like 5 years ago years. Great time for the housing market if you are a buyer.

Todays interest rates will make the overall cost of home buying as high today as it was 5 years ago. (If not higher)

And you are going to vote for McCain?????????????

The US economy is experiencing the fallout from a credit bubble and housing bubble that happened from 2000-2006. While I am not one of these partisan hacks that will play the blame game, I don't see how anyone that thinks the economy is in trouble (and it is, I just spent 3 hours on a conference call with several very sharp economists) would vote for McCain.

People said this last year.

Don't know about you, but I wouldn't be too thrilled to have saved for years for a 20% down payment, bought a house a year ago, and now be upside down on my loan.

The great time to buy will be at the bottom. That may not be for a couple of years.

Democrats' main constituents don't go to the polls as often as Republicans'. Never have since the realignment, what makes you think they will now?

You wont see another -300 or less on Obama at Matchbook until I run out of credit.

And I do have some bullets left.

Election isn't over by a long shot. If McCain can claw back into the margin of statistical insignificance than the New Hampshire effect could put him over the top.

Interesting, that is all happening because of the 2 years of Democrats in charge of Congress?
