| Rudy: “It’s playing out the way we thought” Jacksonville, FL — Despite falling polls and a shortage of campaign cash, Rudy Giuliani attempted to assure voters Monday that his strategy is “playing out the way we thought it would play out.” The latest polls out Monday showed Giuliani trailing in his home state of New York to Sen. John McCain. Giuliani is down by 12 in a new Sienna poll after leading McCain by 33 points in December and is trailing the Arizona senator in his home state by 15 percent in the latest Marist poll. The NY polls come on the heels of two other recent polls showing him also losing ground in New Jersey and Connecticut–two states his strategists referred to as “momentum-proof,” and fall in line with his fall in national polling. Giuliani’s reaction to the polls: it’s all about Florida. “For us, it’s Florida. We’ll think about New York and California. We’ll think about Illinois. We’ll think about Missouri….we’ll think about everything on the morning of the 30th of January,” Giuliani said. “It’s playing out the way we thought it would play out. Now the most important thing is, we thought it would play out with us our winning Florida so that’s going to be an important thing for us to accomplish…it’s all about Florida.” Hizzoner will make one stop in the West Palm Beach area Tuesday before returning to New York to raise some necessary campaign bucks. He has previously said that he is planning to spend “almost everything” on the Sunshine State primary. Rudy: “It’s playing out the way we thought” « FOX Embeds « FOXNews.com |

I'm sure Capt. Edward Smith thought the same thing until that big iceberg thingy jumped in front of his ship. . . .Rudi, we hardly knew ya; but what we did know, we didn't like that much. . . .The Times has a front-page article regarding Rudi "management style" when he was mayor. . . . http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/22/us...gewanted=print Last edited by 4625; 01-22-08 at 04:03 PM. Thought for sure this phony would somehow figure a way to con the gullible. Maybe just maybe the country is waking up. Hopefully if Mccain wins he doesn't pick this phony creep as his VP.

Rudy's downfall was going toe to toe with the good Dr. Ron Paul...his knowledge of foreign policy reminds me of a whore on crack looking for the next fix. |

As a resident of New York I watched Rudy work in both the press and television for sometime now,one thing I can tell you is this, he won't win N.Y. for sure, the people here know him too well, and the one thing they all know about Rudy is that "Rudy is for Rudy" and he cares little about anyone else. |

Yeah but the way the primaries and caucuses are set up he had no chance. Bloomberg already figured out the same and just went independent. The only way either of these guys gets through is as 3rd party or independent. Which early state did he stand a chance in? Iowa, yeah Rudy the farmer in an ultra-conservative state. Michigan where his get tough policies don't appease those who pander to the voters with money? Nevada where the Mormons made Romney a pretty good bet? Rudy's best shots are in all these primaries that are too late in the race. This is the horseshit system we live under, yet no one will change it because the nobodies win with it. All that money gets wasted in Iowa and New Hampshire every 4 years for no real reason. Until we get ourselves back to a real democracy where national elections are decided nationally with no hocus pocus electoral college map and no nominating process forcing candidates to support corn and the church we will continue to see crap handed to us. We have no one to blame but ourselves. |

We are not a Democracy and never have been.. we are supposed to be a republic of free states.....It has eroded over time to what we have now.... Each state should weild the same power in electing representatives of each party.... Not how it is now.... But the electoral college is correct... No way a Pure democracy will ever work with the Buying of votes and such

I would agree to a random selection of state order to mix things up, but giving the same two states consistent power is a joke. I don't agree with the electoral college though and the system it is creating with the election hinging upon a handful of states is terrible. Why should Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida basically decide who is President, where is the sense of democracy and true representation in that? |

without the electoral college the candidates would not campaign outside of NY, California and Illinois... win those states and you basically have the election |

It's like sampling some wine than eating a cracker to cleanse the palate, before moving on to more tastings. The solution with electoral votes is to change the winner take all format, and split them in proportion to a candidates % of the vote,so for example if someone receives 60% of the vote in a state with 30 electors they would get 18 and,the other 40% would share 12.It would reduce the impact of any 1 state on a nationwide election.
