UFC Fight Night 89 Odds - *Saturday, June 18th sees the UFC Fight Night 89 event go down in*Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and on *FOX Sports 1. The main event comes in the welterweight division and features fast rising Stephen Thompson taking on Rory MacDonald.

Thompson (12-1) sent a big message to the UFC welterweight roster in his last outing, when he stopped former champion Johnny Hendricks with a first round knock out. Hendricks was definitely looking to get back in the title picture and Thompson came into the match an underdog. For this match with MacDonald, who is also a denizen of the welterweight division's top 5, Thompson is getting a lot more respect with the betting lines.

MacDonald will have been off formore than 11 months since we last saw him. In that July of 2015 fight, MacDonald was taken out early in round 5 by champion Robbie Lawler. MacDonald has been considered a future champion for a long time, and the failed bid took a lot out of him emotionally as well as physically. Still, at 26 he figures to be a playe rin the weight class for a long time. Avoiding two losses in a row is paramount if he wants to stay in the immediate title picture.

Also fighting at welterweight is former lightweight top gun Donald Cerrone. Cerrone faces veteran Patrick Cote in a dangerous match. Cote has been in there with everybody from Tito Ortiz to Anderson Silva to Cung Le to main eventer Stephen Thompson. Cote fell to a knee injury against Silva otherwise he has taken all those stars the distance. More interestingly, Cote is on a very consistent streak wher ehe is 10-2 in his last 12 fights so a win over Cerrone could conceivably leave him in the title picture.
