Alvarez Rolls Dos Anjos - The UFC started off the biggest weekend in company history with UFN 90, and that card saw Eddie Alvarez take out Rafael Dos Anjos to take the UFC ightweight title.

Alvarez was only 2-1 in the UFC, and many fans did not credit his pre-UFC resume, but on Thursday night you saw the explosiveness and aggression Alvarez brings at his best. Once he broke through and rung Dos Anjos' bell, Alvarez recognize dit and he never let up. He caught Dos Anjos up against the fence and all the Brazilian could do is cover up. In the end, the referee stepped in to stop the fight late in the first round.

It will be interesting to see who the UFC has Alvarez defend his belt against. Alvarez' lone loss is to Donald Cerrone in his UFC debut, and Cerrone fought his last fight in the welterweight division, but it would not be a big surprise if Cerrone dropped back down to Lightweight to face Alvarez again, now that Alvarez has the UFC title. For all his merits, Dos ANjos should go back to the pack. The way he lost does not really warrant an immediate rematch.

Alvarez Rolls Dos Anjos
Alvarez entered the fight as much as a 3 to 1 underdog, so people that bet Alvarez had a very good night on Thursday. Alvarez has long had a loyal following, and he only added to that on Thursday, but depending on who he fights next, Alvarez may once again enter as an underdog.

Should Alvarez reel off a win or two in a row, the UFC could look to bering him together with Nate Diaz or Conor McGregor. Diaz and McGregor meet in the main event of UFC 202, and the winner is likely to come out of that fight as the UFC's biggest star. And once you get to know him, you will find that Alvarez wants that spot, the lightweight belt is just a start.
