WWE Smackdown Unleashes Backlash Sept 11 - This PPV comes on the heels of the August 21st "Summerslam" PPV and is the first of the all-Smackdown roster PPVs since the famous roster split earlier this year. Sunday night, September 11 sees the Richmond Coliseum in Virginia as the place to be.

The main event sees WWE world heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose taking on the challenge of AJ Styles. Right now, the sports books are not offering a line, but look for them to pop up as we get closer to fight time. When they do, do not be surprised if Styles comes in a favorite as they head into the fight.

The WWE is really looking like they are shaking up parts of the roster, and over on the RAW side of the brand, the newly created "Universal" title is now in the hands of Finn Balor, who was only a recent call-up from the NXT brand. That he beat Seth Rollins was certainly an indication that the WWE s willing to give a big push to some of the talent coming in the door. And Styles has gotten just that. It is not a coincidence that the Summerslam PPV saw Styles gain a clean win over John Cena.

In some ways however, Ambrose has emerged as the most popular member of the former Shield, and with the performances*that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have had in their recent outings, Ambrose is the ex teammate in highest standing right now.

Also announced for the card is a Smackdown Women's title fight called a "six pack" challenge that sees Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Naomi, Natalya and Nikki Bella all vying for the newly minted title.

The tag teams are currently weeding themselves out in a tournament that will see the finals on the Backlash PPV for the new Smackdown tag team titles.
