Gennady Golovkin vs Kell Brook -*The*02 Arena in*London hosts HBO Boxing as middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin defends his WBC, IBF and IBO world titles at 160 pounds against the challenge of Engand's Kell Brook. With the fight in England, Brook will enjoy a home court advantage, so to speak, but the sports books have GOlovkin posted as a considerable favorite.

Brook is the current IBF world welterweight champion, and much is being made of his moving up two weight classes for this fight. With the recent Saul Alvarez vs Amir Khan fight going down with Khan the smaller man losing by KO, many feel this fight will follow that same blue print.

That may be selling Brook short. Brook is the #1 rated welterweight in the world, Khan is not rated #1 in any weight class, and his best shot at being a top ranked fighter may be at 140. Khan is a smaller man, Brook has been pushing the extremes of weight cutting getting to 147 pounds. Weigh-ins 30 days from the fight have Brook weighing in a few pounds heavier than Golovkin, and when they have stood side by side, Brook is not the smaller man by much. Brook also does not come with a known flaw like Khan, as Brook has never been seriously shaken up in a fight.

The imposing Golovkin brings bludgeoning KO power and refined technique to the ring. The fact is that Brook's technical prowess is on par with Golovkin's, and though Brook may have to fight a perfect fight to win this one, the fight will be easier if Golovkin cannot break his defenses and hurt him. After that if he can land and back Golovkin off, Brook may just have a chance in this one.
