Cleverly Finally Gets Braehmer - The*Jahnsportforum in*Neubrandenburg, Germany hosts a WBA world light heavyweigh title fight between champion Juergen Braehmer (48-2) and Nathan Cleverly (29-3).

Cleverly is a former world champion in his own right, having held the WBO version of the belt for over two years before losing the title to Sergey Kovalev. Since then, Cleverly has flirted with the Cruiserweight division and he went to the United States to fight, losing a UD to Andrzej Fonfara in his last outing back in October of 2015. But throughout it all, Cleverly has remained focused on a match with Braehmer, the long-time titleholder who has been reluctanct to fight outside of his home country. The match has supposedly been signed in the past, with Braehmer agreeing to face Cleverly in England at one point but the fight has never materialized. Though at times Cleverly's camp appeared to feel the Braehmer fight will never happen, now the fight is only a week away and it may be the most important fight of Cleverly's life.

Because Kovalev holds the "super world" version of the WBA belt, Braehmer's belt falls to a regional, secondary status and Braehmer falls under the radar, but he is a big deal in his native Germany. At 37 years old, he is a 2x light heavyweight world champion, having held the WBO belt for 18 months back in 2009-2010 and now holding the WBA belt since his December of 2013 win against*Marcus Oliveira.

Cleverly is 8 years younger, and he will enjoy slight advantages in reach and height. he also has the advantage in terms of international experience though Braehmer is not short on ring savvy by any means.
