Suga Rashad Evans scratched - The UFC has pulled Rashad Evans from UFC 206.* Evans was scheduled to fight Tim Kennedy on December 10th at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada.* Originally, the fighters were supposed to mix it up at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden but at the last minute the New York State Athletic Commission found an issue with Rashad’s MRI and declined his license to fight.*** The fight was rescheduled for UFC 206 in Canada but the Ontario Athletic commission has also declined to clear Evans to fight for the same reason as the NYSAC, an issue with his MRI.

Evans says this is something he has fought with his entire UFC career.* He has stated that he has passed multiple follow up tests but the NYSAC and OAC still refuse to issue his license.* The issue with the MRI has not been disclosed.* Per Evans manager, Ali Abdelaziz, Evans will undergo additional screening with a neurologist to prove he is healthy enough to compete and wants to make it back to the octagon as early as January.* Evans says he is in excellent physical condition and is 100% healthy.* Based on recent photos of “Suga” Rashad at 190 pounds, this is true.* He is very disappointed by the decision not allowing him to fight.

Also disappointed by the decision of the OAC is Tim Kennedy.* Kennedy is continuing to cut to 190 pounds and is expecting a replacement opponent for UFC 206.* The UFC has not confirmed a new opponent for Kennedy yet.

It is speculated the Evans may have some brain damage.* We have witnessed Evans fall victim to 2 brutal knockouts.* The most devastating came from the hands and feet of Lyoto Machida at UFC 98.* The fight was stopped in the 2nd round after Evans absorbed more than twenty head shots.* Evans was knocked cold before falling into the cage and then awkwardly to the canvas.

Evans has lost his last 2 bouts.* He has lost to Ryan Bader at UFC 192.* It was a hard fought bout that went the distance and was awarded to Bader via unanimous decision.* Evans absorbed a lot of punishment during the contest by way of punches and head kicks.

In his most recent fight at UFC on FOX 19 on April 16th of this year, Evans was handed his 2nd straight loss by way of another brutal knockout.* This time coming* from Glover Teixeira.* Teixeira stopped “Suga” in the first round with a right hand that landed flush on the chin of Evans.* Evans was out before he hit the canvas and asked “what happened?” when he came to.

Evans is a great fighter with a decorated career.* His UFC record is 19-5-1.* One has to wonder if the repeated head blows, has taken a toll on “Suga” Rashad.* No matter what the outcome from the test results, Evans owes us nothing.* He has been a great competitor and I hope that his MRI issue is minor.
