    Default All-NBA Dollar Dollar Bill....

Screwy deal the players union negotiated. If FA player makes one of the three All-NBA teams and he immediately becomes eligible to receive 75 million more (long term) from his present club.

Unfortunately it hurts players like Paul George and Hayward in small markets that don't have the star name recognition with most writers and broadcasters thus left out this year.

    Agree.

Gobert now eligible for max deal, but Hayward isn't.... doesn't make much sense.

Gobert is a game changer but to get the 6th highest votes?! And who in good conscience left Lebron off the 1st ballot?

One of the Heat's beat writers has a vote on selecting the all NBA teams, he declined to vote this time saying he didn't want to be responsible for guys possibly not getting bigger contracts if they didn't get his vote. He said he doesn't like that writers are helping determine where players might end up. Had Paul George been named to one of the three all NBA teams, he would have been eligible to sign a monster contract to stay in Indiana, he could have made a lot more money by staying, now that incentive is gone and while the Pacers can still pay him more, the difference isn't as big, so there's a greater likelihood of him leaving since he didn't make all NBA. Apparently this rule was put into place to make it easier for teams to keep their star players, but it still doesn't seem like the right thing. And yeah, the guy who didn't vote LeBron all NBA first team should have his vote taken away

There was zero chance Paul George was staying in Indiana regardless. He has been on his way to LA since he got into the league.

Don't think market had anything to do with it. Who did Paul George belong on their over? Durant I am guessing you are arguing?

Yes Durant. He missed 25% of the season plus PG had a better year imo

Yea makes sense for PG to get to a bigger market. He now has a Nike shoe deal and no off the court issues. He will make so much more money in endorsements in LA to compensate for their tax and less money they can offer. He's already made good money, if you can't live off of a max offer from not your team you should kill your self. Sucks for Indiana but they had their chance to build a real contender around him. If you're going to lose, losing in LA sounds better than Indiana.

With Heyward I actually take the opposite side he should stay in Utah not go to Boston. It's better for the Sixers he stays in Utah, but they're building something out there. Heyward is the perfect small market guy, I really don't think he's a max guy but he will get that money. He doesn't push Boston over the edge to compete with Cleveland either imo....Jimmy Butler does though

player does not become immediately eligible for the new vet extended maximum (there are other requirements for this classification)....suggest you read the CBA.

    My fault. Thanks for clarifying.

Some incomplete (at best) reporting in the media about it.

In this age of position-less basketball, it's silly to save spots on the All-NBA team for centers.

    Archaic system.

DeAndre Jordan is not one of the top 15 players in the NBA.

But pretty much every team in the NBA plays a center for 30-40 minutes a game; so even though the NBA has gone smaller, and wings are interchangeable, the position still exists. I understand what you're saying, and maybe you consider the PF and C the same these days but I don't think you can remove that stipulation just because of a short term down turn in centers.

Actually i think he is in terms of building a team...only centers i might take over him are Towns and Gobert. Davis and Cousins are not centers. Obv would be willing to sacrifice ft%

Super tall and athletic centers with ability to get up and down the court just as fast as a wing are invaluable in 3ball era

How is DeMarcus Cousins not a center? Might be the most like dominant old school centers in the game today.
