    Urban Dictionary: paisano

    https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=paisano

A word used by italians toward other italians meaning "Italian brother" sometimes shortened to Paisan. "Capisci Paisano, Si o no" "Ay paisan, how ya doin".

Paesano is defined as a fellow countryman, especially a fellow Italian. A friend who lives down the street from you in your Italian village is an example of a paesano.

I should have used the word dago.

    That's easy to spell.

    You are correct.

John Kelly will NOT be happy with this thread.

Being a graduate of Northwestern, JK expects no grammar errors in the titles or the content of the post.

    Shit!

Not the case at all, Dave.

    We're gamblers, not grammarians.

Besides, correct spelling or sentence structure or punctuation are largely ignored by the text generation.

I confess to cleaning up thread titles in the interest of keeping our house in order.

Plenty of Italian-Americans here including the biggest bookmaker in the world who is aware of our community.

I am (well, a Paisano, not a piesano), and I am really bummed out about this.
The World Cup is huge, Huge, HUGE for Italy. I first followed it in 1966 (I was 12), I was in Italy, they got knocked out by the midgets from North Korea. The whole country was pissed.
They won twice in recent years, and twice in the 30's. 1982 was great.
This year's team was simply not that good (good article on fivethirtyeight). If you can't score in 2 crucial games, you deserve your fate.
Always amazes me how soccer players can make long, accurate passes @ midfield, but inside penalty box, 20 foot shots go flying 15 feet over the goal, or 10 feet to the side. Italy had tons of chances, shots were almost always not on goal.
The Azzuri are a major cultural point of pride in Italy. Very sad day for us Azzuri fans 😢

Italy had way more than enough chances to not only score once but at least twice or even three times. Like you said, shots weren’t even close.

with that said, for as much as the ref was showing yellows, he clearly wanted to play no part in impacting the game with any penalties which were plenty due to hand balls and tackles in box

What about using buy standard instead of bystander?

    Come on, JK.

You LOVE correcting spelling and punctuation errors.

You also LOVE changing the titles of our threads.

It's kind of strange, but I am a little strange also so I can relate?

Maybe me you and Fezz can do lunch one(1) day?

If the three(3) of us agreed to meet for lunch and invited the public over a hundred(100) people would show up.

Granted this would NOT be considered an EOG bash, but you have to start somewhere.

    Right?

My most memorable soccer viewing experience was USA vs Italy in 2006 World Cup.
I was in Rome and watched it in a packed bar amongst a bunch of rabid Italian
soccer fans. The USA gutted out a 1-1 draw. There was blood. There were 3 players
sent off and the US survived the entire 2H down a man to gain the draw. It was a
big letdown for the Italians who were the decided fave but couldn't get the W even
with the one-man edge. I'm Italian, father born there but was silently rooting for the
US. To have been vocal about it may have led to a bottle of Peroni upside the head.
They love their soccer there as much as they love the Pope or a plate of carbonara.

This year neither the US or Italy will be in the World Cup.
