A busy Tuesday here in San Jose:

Walked down Central Avenue to get a lay of the land.

Found what I was looking for when I located a massive park, La Sabana Park, with three full basketball courts.

I'll enjoy a serious size advantage (albeit a noticeable speed deficiency) against my Costa Rican opponents.

Downtown San Jose, Costa Rica is similar to Tijuana, Mexico with dirty streets, subpar infrastructure and crazy drivers with no regard for the rules or the road or the rules of the road.

EOG contributor ROCKFISH earlier in this thread recommended a seafood restaurant in the neighborhood of the Taormina Hotel and Casino.

Ate there yesterday and I credit ROCKFISH with a winning selection.

Ordered Filete De Corvina Al Aljillo (Fried Seabass in Garlic Sauce).

    Pictures coming up.

Wednesday's plan: Find some college hoop winners, meet up with noted bookmaker Mike Corrigan and play outdoor basketball in La Sabana Park.

Mike will speak next month at a gathering to celebrate the life and times of the late Bob Bailey, a former MLB player and World Series champion (1976) who played a total of 17 seasons for the Pirates, Expos, Dodgers, Reds and Red Sox.

Bailey just passed away in the last couple of weeks. Good hitter on the expansion Expos.

He recorded the first-ever hit for the Montreal Expos in 1969.

JK, glad you enjoyed Soda Peru. The woman who owns and runs the place takes great pride in what she serves to customers. JK, do you speak spanish?

JK, i have Another recommendation for you. Just one block from Soda Peru is the Holiday Inn. They have a little casino on the first floor. Nice bar inside the casino usually with young pretty wait staff. Nice place for a cocktail or two. Not a hooker bar. Plenty of those in the area if that is up your alley.
