Darvish tips his pitches. He was still tipping them in WS according to Stros.

Ok....Darvish is 31 with a 10-12 record last year with a 3.86 era. It was 21.60 in the world series that included a China men gesture from the opposing team that he wasn't man enough to do something about.

Theo gives him six years guaranteed.

    Desperation move.

Syndergaard threw the first pitch he got in the world series right at the goof from Kansas cities head. Alcides or whatever the fuk his name is cried to reporter's about it after the game. Syndergaard told reporters he was 60 feet away during the game. Settle it there. Guy was a bitch and so is Darvish.

Really regressed badly against lefties. BOL in Great American and Miller Park.

    Tough to defend that contract.

How do you have a sub 2 ERA on the road in the AL over like 20 something starts if you're terrible?

He's glad to get out of the AL and out of Arlington for sure.

Don't like tying money up long term with bets but the Mets over 80 1/2 wins looks really good to me.

He's no where near terrible, I don't see the move to the NL as being a positive though.

He better do something about that abysmal stolen base rate. The catchers he threw to in Texas were quite successful with the rest of the staff.

I can't think of any way to defend that contract at all.

Guaranteed AAV of just over 20 million for a 4 WAR pitcher.. not an overpay at all.. you are well out of your element here billy

My element? Jesus lord you're full of yourself. What have I posted that isn't fact.

What is the probability of a 4 WAR season in 2021 for a guy who hasn't had one since 2013?

And you think a 20.5 million AAV is an overpay for even a 3 WAR pitcher?

again, you're out of your element. I know this will upset you, but your knowledge of baseball pales in comparison.

I would have preferred Arrieta on some gaudy 4 year deal vs Darvish at 6, but this makes the cubs substantially better than they were in 2018, 2019, and 2020. As with any long term deal, you overpay for the early years. If you have 2 championships in the first 4 years, no one cares if you're paying 21 million for a 5th caliber starter in 2021. Not one single person. Add in the Cubs TV deal coming and they really have no reason to be frugal.

Look at the Lester deal if you need your hand held. He's probably not going to be worth what he makes this this year or next year. But for this year and next year, he should still be pretty valuable come playoff time if things go well. But if you don't give him the money, you don't win the 2016 World Series. And winning championships is kind of the point little man.

You just can't handle a factual conversation with anyone on anything without getting condescending, can you. I made an opinion based on fact, you take it as some kind of personal attack.

    I gave it a try.

Darvish the Iranian gas can isn't winning any championships, Javy

Just stop. It's embarrassing. Your team gave a truckload of money and a 6 year commitment to a soon to be 32 year old gas can. Watching you twist yourself around like a fucking pretzel trying to defend this move is just sad

lol actually you offered no facts.

You don't understand MLB contracts, which is fine, because you're obviously not a close follower, but for the love of christ man, if you're evaluating a contract and saying things like 'I can't justify that contract at all' when you don't even know the AAV or what the average AAV per WAR is early in a contract, then I don't know what to tell you.

This is why you're so impossible to discuss anything with. You're ignorant as fuck but have the biggest ego in the room.

But tell you what, tell me how a 20.5 million AAV for a 3.9 WAR pitcher last year is 'impossible to justify.' I'll wait.

Placing a dollar value on WAR for a six year contract is a fallacy. It is absolute heresy when subjectively applied to a pitcher turning 32 with what will be a declining skill set.

You have no idea what the value adjustments for league and park will be, nor can you value the % +/-growth of $/WAR year over year.

This kid hates factual discussion and cries when you take the I wanna kick your teeth down your throat approach.

There is only one side to a discussion.

Billy has yet to offer a factual argument as to why a 20.5 million AAV is 'impossible to justify' for Yu Darvish

Sad... Oh well. I haven't expected much from him. All would be a pleasant surprise at this point. Poor guy.

You know it's bad for little billy and his man titties when billysink and TheVegasBruin have the exact same argument.

Im stating a fact that darvish sucks. That’s all. You don’t want to seem to accept that, which is fine, but don’t attack me because of it. Your stupid team is the one who signed him, not my fault pal. Deal with it

I get better looking women than you, book. Maybe you should have worked on your game more? But if judging men's hair is what gets you hard these days, by all means. At least something does..

Dollar wise, the 6-year deal is better for sure. The big question is do you want him for the 6th year? I’m leaning to the no.

The 4-6th years will be his 16-18th years in professional ball, including 4 seasons in Japan over 200 innings, topping out @ 232 innings in 2011.

Over 30,000 pitches in career so far.

Who knows, he may be a freak of nature like Maddux. There may be some doubt with Arrieta concerning the past training habits. Other teams have to be asking the same questions if the Cubs signed Yu over Jake.
