Final score: Texas 72 Iowa State 68.

The Longhorns win the game, the Cyclones cash the bet.

'Three's current record is 4-3 for a winning rate of 57%.

I think the final score was: Texas 68 Iowa State 64 unless ESPN, Don Best, Yahoo! and SportsOptions are all wrong.

Missed front end FT of one and one at end was thing of beauty for Iowa State bettors

Praying they wouldn't foul with at end with only secs left. They didn't.

    Nice job!

    Thanks Stevo
it was a pick’em game from the start and we
get 5-6 points, please. that’s another thing I will be getting into when I add some postgame context to my plays, as this line moved against us late. Let’s make some money today investing shall we.

    7) 3/7 #627 Iowa St. Cyclones +5 +103 WIN
    8) 3/8 #692 Eastern Michigan Eagles -6 -106

    Some Thoughts:

Akron was decimated by graduation, as their top 5 scorers and basically double digit rotation players are gone. In MAC league play they are among the basement dwellers in all rebounding stats and are last in total defense, as they are allowing opponents 77.9 points per game. Since Jan 1st they have road record of 2-8 with a margin of defeat of 11.5 per game while pulling out two games with a two point and one point victory, as the margin for error for this young squad is small.

In the month of March it is key to determine who has peaked during the holiday's like Oklahoma and Arizona St. and who is playing their best ball. Eastern Michigan meets the criteria of playing great ball, as they are winners of their last 8 out of 9 games. In those games they are allowing opponents 63.5 points per game, while defeating teams by a score margin of over 11 points per game. Even more impressive for the Eagles, is the majority of those games have been on the road winning 5 out of 6 away from home. Winning road games in the dog days of February always grabs my attention.

In their last 4 games they have earned an average field goal percentage of 52.9%. Among the MAC conference they are #1 in opponent scoring defense 65.4 per game. I am looking for this team to work their system at this neutral site conference tourney game, which is stout defense, while taking quality high percentage shots to increase margin of victory.

    peace...

    9) 3/9 #881 CS-Fullerton Titans +1 -102

    Some Thoughts:

CS-Fullerton takes on #1 seed UC-Davis, winners of six ballgames in a row. They have survived the loss of their star player Chima Moneke last month, to maintain #1 seed in the Big West. With his loss, their numbers took a hit in some categories, with rebounding charts taking the biggest hit, as they are among the cellar dwellers. I don't believe UC-Davis has the depth to make it thru this tournament, as their starters earn the bulk of time and offense. In their last four ballgames they have received an average of 14 points per game off the bench and been outscored by their opponents in the second half of those games by approximately 5 points per outing.

CS-Fullerton was the last team to knock off UC-Davis back in February to sweep the season series 2-0. In those two outing's UC-Davis from 3-PT zone shot a combined 5 for 31 (16.2%), ouch. What I like most about this CS-Fullerton team in this match-up, is that they take few attempts from the land of 3 pointers. They focus on high field goal percentage point blank shots which is why their field goal percentage numbers are so good. When playing two or three days in a row in these conference tourneys, the defense you play and the shots you take always factor in which teams advance to the next night.

    9) 3/9 #881 CS-Fullerton Titans +1 -102 WIN
    10) 3/10 #531 West Virginia-Kansas Over 149 -110

    Some Thoughts:

What can be said, we have here a grade A match-up between two top tier teams. Both teams want
this win desperately, and the seeding spoils it brings for next week. Kansas will attempt to maintain
conference dominance, as West Virginia hopes the 3rd time and 3rd straight year in the conference
tourney finals will be the charm, and win their first BIG 12 championship. Both teams are among the top 3 in conference when talking scoring margin, assists and 3-pt make percentages while coming into this title game clicking on all cylinders.

Kansas is shooting 52% in this tournament while scoring from all areas, as they enjoy the usual great guard play to set the table. Soph Malik Newman has been a revelation as he is on fire from the field and has blown bye his season average of 12,9 ppg by averaging 26 points per game in this tournament. Jayhawks bigman Udoka Azubuike interior defense has been sorely missed in this tournament allowing some healthy interior scoring. Due to his injury he will not be back until the big dance.

West Virginia does what they do, play rugged man up ball and try to take your soul. Playing a rugged style of ball leads to good things, but it also leads to a high amount of fouls and free throws for opponents, as evidence by a controversial +33 free throw attempt margin at Kansas earlier this winter. It will be interesting to see how the Big 12 makes it up to the mountaineers in this game with some more freebies. I notice around wagering circles their has been a lot of blind UNDER cluster plays trying to dance percentages getting the best of the number this game as well was hit for the under. But I make it a case, to never sway off of my spreadsheets and try to stay true to my process, so I will until tip hoping number goes down even more and then make a play in this championship game on the OVER hoping the squads do what they do and get the job done.

    Some Thoughts:

Wicked busy today so no standard write-up. If you brokedown these two teams they would look like twins as
this conference has some REAL teams to bring to the big dance next week. Taking the defense that I believe can
make more problems late in second half.

    Some Thoughts:

Iona faces a Duke team that is quite frankly bigger, better, and badder in the nice sense of the word. Duke has been facing the stronger iron of the ACC night in and night out, and those teams will make you look bad on any given night, but they are an elite team with all the right numbers. In 12 non-conference games, two games of which were against the top tier talent in Michigan St and Florida, the blue devils averaged 95 points per game.

Also, in Duke's previous 6 first round NCAA tourney games of which they won, they led 5 of 6 of those by an average of 12+ points per game and in the second half outscored opponents by even more, to the tune of about 14 points per game. Coach K will not let off the throttle and wait for next game, as he uses these games of reps to make his team better, no matter how ugly it gets.

Iona returns for the third straight season to the big dance, getting blown out but they averaged 79 per game. They are among the bottom half in the Metro Athletic in all key defensive splits and the rebounding numbers are not much better. In their conference they accumulated averages of 83.5 per game and almost 10 three point makes per. Fact is they are most always a guard centric slick shoot team who always try's to outscore you. Duke will get what they want when they want, as Iona with their slick inner city guards, who could make shots in their cribs growing up, should muster enough points to hopefully rise over the posted total.

    peace...

    13) 3/13 #561 Riders Broncs +11.5 -106

    Some Thoughts:

Rider is a young squad with not a single senior in their lineup, yet they won the Metro Athletic, as they were upset in the conference tournament. Featuring a young guard attack, since Jan 1st they are 6-2 on the road with a per game win margin of 10 points per. In the MAAC they featured the top scoring offense averaging 83 per with elite field goal percentage numbers, impressive for a young squad.

Oregon has had an average year and that's what their numbers speak to. Among middle of the Pac-12 pack in all categories scoring, rebounds, blocks, split margins are almost to a negative territory, but it is to be understood losing so much to graduation/draft. Rider's job is to keep Ejijah Brown under wraps, because Oregon has a bench where in the 3 games they played in the Pac-12 tournament averaged a bench total of 4 points per game, jeesh.

In that Pac-12 tournament Oregon played 3 games in 3 nights, which could factor in a sluggish game here. As for Rider their schedule and then being upset as the #1 seed, they have only played 2 games since Feb 25th, so they come in fresh. Also, in their last 5 ball games this team featuring these young guards has averaged 29.6 free throw attempts per game. If they can find away to the foul line, that will be huge, considering the Ducks sub-par bench.

So I will take the +11.5 point head start in this west coast game after dark.

    peace...

    Some Thoughts:

Ohio St. makes the tournament and comes in here a healthy favorite versus South Dakota St.
Buckeyes with new coach Holtmann surprised in the Big 10 remaining among the top quarter
of teams all year long. That said I see some regression in their numbers the last quarter of
the season barely getting of double digit free throw attempts per game with average of 13 in
about the last quarter of the season with not being a great 3 point make squad, as this is
basically the same team from last year with just the add of Diop but more mature, but you
can be more mature you still need talent.

South Dakota Jackrabbits make it back to back years in the big dance dropping last year's opening
round game to national championship runner up Gonzaga. You will here about Daum and rightfully so
big man scores from inside and outside with handle and flair, as this is probably his last run before
an NBA tryout. Jackrabbits return 5 major contributors from last year with a major find in superstar
frosh point guard David Jenkins Jr. and boy his this kid worth the price of admission. Handles with
floor generalship and he can flat out get a bucket in any game. Jackrabbits managed over 83ppg with
above average rebounding and free throw make numbers, and boy can the make the deep ball, converting
3 pointers at the tune of over 40% for the season, which is a prerequisite as an underdog trying to win
    a game in this tournament.

I believe the buckeyes have peaked and are a classic ball possession club, who like other teams from this
league can get comfortable and carve out a nice living with that style among their rivals they know and play twice a season, I will take South Dakota State, who has lost since January to be a factor in this game.

    peace...

    Totals are tough.

An under became an over with the extra five minutes in the OU-RIU game and an over became an under when the intensity and starters left the Iona-Duke game.

    Ugh.
