Thread: MARCH MADNESS CONTEST (Rules, Invitees, Payouts, etc.)

  1. #1

Default MARCH MADNESS CONTEST (Rules, Invitees, Payouts, etc.)

The Battle Royal of March Madness at EOG. (Except this contest isn't scripted).

    List of 25 Invitees:

    alldaycapper
    Almost Allright
    billysink
    bookbraker
    Brayden11
    Brick
    Choslamshe

    Viejo Dinosaur
    winkyducky

PLEASE READ entire post as there are three ways to win $$ in this contest.

CONTEST #1- Pick 1 of each seed (16 total teams) that you think will go the furthest.
Each time your team wins you will accumulate points.
There are round values each time your team advances:

    Round of 64: 1 x seed
    Round of 32: 2 x seed
    Round of 16: 3 x seed
    Round of 8: 4 x seed
    Final 4 round: 6 x seed-
    Championship: 10 x seed

In case there might be tie scenarios, posters will be asked to
PM Computer Bob the total points for the championship game.

    Payouts- 1st- $500, 2nd- $300, 3rd- $150, 4th- $50

CONTEST #2- Below your 16 seeded picks, please list your FINAL FOUR teams.
If you correctly pick the Final Four, you will win $50.

CONTEST #3- Below your Final Four picks- select the poster you think will win the contest.
If you correctly pick the poster who wins, you will win $25.

RULES FOR CONTEST #1: (From Computer Bob)

If its OK by all, I'll post the official seeding after Selection Sunday, March 11, around 4PM PT.

Entries can then be posted until the deadline at first game tipoff (around 8:45AM PT or so) on Thursday, March 15. For simplicity and to avoid confusion, I'd like everyone use the spelling of the listed seeds so I don't have to sift through nicknames, an obscure reference, etc. There will be "First Four" games which score no points, two next Tuesday and two more next Wednesday. These can be chosen early as "play-in pairs", e.g. "16. Radford/Harvard", once the results are known, they become a single team, or one's entry can be delayed until a play-in game is decided and the winner(s) of a "First Four" game can be used.

I would propose if an entrant wants a secret "ballot", they can PM JK or myself before the deadline and I will reveal the picks as soon as I can on Thursday AM.

Running scores for each entrant will be periodically posted. BTW, I've computed with 1-2-3-4-6-10 weights, the best possible score is 1286. If someone hits that, they will win $500 from me. LOL (odds are a gazillion to 1)

Any questions - feel free to post.

    Good luck gentleman!!

    No entry fees.

But a good idea in the future.

I like these quick contests (three weeks, not three months) highlighting some of our best contributors.

JAMMER is laying a path I want to follow.

Please then by all means start a thread for yourself and them and let's see how you do
When you're winning stack up, when you're losing back up....
Gabe if you're not going to post ALL your plays on the website why not post them ALL in ONE thread and let people know where that is?

Without going all Computer Bob, your edge would shrink every round. Would need a terrorist attack before the Final Four to win. Equivalent to sprinting out to the lead in a marathon.

trytrytry is suspected of doing bad things with bitcoins. I stuck up for him as no poster has accused him. But I think EOG should conduct a quick investigation to determine if trytrytry should be eligible to participate in this contest. I nominate Patrick McMueller Irish to be the special needs EOG counsel.
