    Love the hours at Monmouth.

Most sports books in Las Vegas close by 10:00 p.m.

It seems like there will be websites & mobile in New Jersey . Too early to tell for sure. They could be using ewallet too. 14 day checks If Atlantic City wants northern N.J business they would need easy deposit online/mobile and withdrawal.

PPH could very well in NJ will feel a loss this coming football season / world series.

roxy said many years ago he wanted to move LVSC to east coast if it ever went to NJ. Matter of fact I think he said he was looking for real estate. How long before Cantor , paddy power & MGM start putting pressure on Offshore ?

NJ books won't put out any new lines at 8am ET. They may use the baseball overnights at low limits, offshore lines, or just keep games off the board until Nevada opens.

The early 8am ET openings are only for Sat and Sun AM when lines are essentially already set in football and with overnights. Of course, NJ books may shade some of their lines or eventually take large enough bets that move some Nevada books or even offshore "on air". Time will tell, but I doubt if NJ takes any sort of a "lead" on putting out lines.

CB 5 years ago i disagreed with you on N.J. getting sports betting before the metlife superbowl. You were correct. I was off by 5 years or so . Timing was way off . You factored in the attorneys I did not.
I respectfully disagree with you on N.J. not taking the lead with putting out the lines before vegas not this year but somewhere before or at KO of superbowl 2019-20.
Here is my conspiracy if cantor is not sold and if they still give the line to some of las vegas sports books currently they move their HQ so any of the NJ can open earlier to get the bettors in AC and up northern Jersey 3 full hour jump on business which they do not have as of now. I will also throw in paddy power , which i have no idea where they are getting their lines from will want to open 3 hours early at the meadowlands to get a jump on business. Offshore will still be the first one to post openers .

what is your opinion how NJ gets their lines in the 1st place ??? must come by data lines correct ? how are they not in violation of the wire act as of tomorrow.

So, if I'm a multi-jurisdictional sports book operator with exposure in both Nevada and on the East Coast, does my overall market open on a weekend football morning when my East Coast books open at 8 am ET there (5am PT) or instead when my Nevada books open at 8 am PT?

If the answer is 8 am ET, then if I'm the head linesmaker/risk manager for the overall outfit, do I want to live somewhere where my overall market opens at 5 am my time or 8 am my time?

I'm not much of a morning person, unless it involves room service for two at the Mandarin Oriental, with someone who understands that the three most important words in the world are "here's your coffee." (just can't figure out why I'm still single . . . )

So, for me, if I've got to get up and start assessing risk, I want to do it with my market opening at 8 am my time rather than 5 am.

It's why I have considered in passing doing football offseasons back east so that stock market regular trading hours would start at 930 am local rather than 630 am local for me.

Any brand new business will have its startup costs and learning curves.

Perfectly understandable, but whoever made the decision to shut off all the TVs in the 4th quarter of an NBA Finals game should be fired and never allowed to be involved in the sportsbook business ever again.

    Understood.

But I've seen so many sports books in Nevada close before they should.

    Terrible customer service.

South Point has the right idea by going 24 hours.

I don’t suspect the book itself does much business between midnight and 8:00am, except maybe on football weekends.

The real advantage for SP may come by being able to keep closer tabs on what’s going on offshore during that time, so as not to be caught with their pants down at open.

Nah, they’re not putting nearly that much thought into it, I suspect it’s mostly for the publicity and the tradition of being the only one open 24 hours that they continue doing it.

Them monitoring odds offshore is kind of laughable when they are the ones notorious for being caught sleeping with stale numbers on futures. A case in point is they had Nevada at 50-1 to win the NCAA BB title a few weeks ago when everyone else in town was half that.

Stuff like that should never happen if you are open 24 hours, what the hell else does your night supervisor have to do in the middle of the night but go over futures pricing?

Actually it would be impossible to get caught with your pants down upon opening in a Vegas book. The first thing the morning guy does is open the screen and adjust the numbers to account for any moves overnight. Those stale limes from the night before are never even accessible to the public.

Yup, spot on. There is seating upstairs but its not a bar with tvs and no board with lines.

Literally just had a non betting buddy text me saying "Giants are 35-1 what a great # lets put something on it"

They will get that action from casual guys throwing a hundred on those who dont play offshore, dont know its a bad line, and dont really care.
