I'm pretty sure this has never been asked. As I get older a cruise might work for an Nfl weekend or during Mlb...

Actually, I believe some cruise lines have virtual sportsbooks.

You can add Disney and Seabourne to that list.

Before I moved to Las Vegas 8 years ago, I was looking at South Florida as an alternative. They had some multi-hour cruise to nowhere type smaller vessels with sports books. Looked like a dicey proposition to me in that you then have to get off a boat with your winnings with people possibly casing the place and the patrons for targets. The big cruise ship that I did go on out of Miami had table gaming. My companion checked it out -- I'm not a big table games person -- and said that it was all shaded to the house. Can't recall the particulars now, but no self-respecting gambler would play against the disadvantages she outlined. Things may have changed in the interim, but my recommendation based at least on that experience would be to choose a cruise for other reasons and gamble or sports bet instead in venues where you have a better advantage.

I don't think any other gambling website has the audacity to tackle the burning issue of sports books and cruise ships.

There is no corner of the betting world that is not reached by Eye on Gaming, lol.

The Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas likely provides one of the better combinations of sports betting and umbrella drinks. Given that many cruises have day trip activities to Atlantis and around Nassau itself, much of your stay would resemble what you can/would do on a cruise in any event. If you don't want to go shopping downtown with the significant other (I like to check out the other other shoppers myself), the Atlantis book gives you a plausible escape strategy.

Personally, I'd do that during a sports season other than the NFL. Too much on my plate during that season to really enjoy the resort as much as I would otherwise. As I say, IMO, best to plan that sort of thing with sports betting being only a tertiary objective or less.

And while you're there, you can open a Bahamian bank account to perhaps legally fund your offshore betting accounts.

So, there, JJ, the conversation worked it's way back to a topic near and dear to EOG'ers hearts, lol.

What the Bahamian bank account bit? Seems like it would work to me. Might want to deposit currency to sever any link to a US banking transaction, in which case you have to be mindful of cross-border currency transfer rules. (Never looked at whether gold might have less restrictions and/or reporting requirements attached to carrying it over the border.) And Nassau is fairly secure and easy to get to from Miami as well as having a world class banking system from what I hear -- so it's not an entirely unrealistic strategy for a US resident, particularly as an adjunct to a vacation trip to Atlantis.

That should take care of the UIGEA banking rules end, just leaving the legal issues associated with the Wire Act as to the placing of the wagers themselves from the US.

But that's another topic for another day.

Does not say if they have a sportsbook. I played craps and they only offered single unit betting at true odds behind the line on your pass number. For some reason, when an 11 came up, it was followed by another next roll many times more than long term odds. AT 15:1, I was up to $50 on the roll after a "Yo Leven". I know that this is a sucker bet but you cannot knock a $900 win for a night of fun. The blackjack dealer hit a soft 17, but otherwise, it was OK rules. I made money.

Yeah, a cruise is OK, Kinger. Went with a date, so not sure how it would have been single.

All else being equal, I'd rather bareboat charter a sailboat. Tend to like more actively engaged vacations. But the cruises do have a variety of day excursions when they're in port, so you can scuba, windsurf, etc.

Definitely had a good time. Basically like a Vegas resort on water, with dining, bars and entertainment.

Also depends on the destinations. E.g., a Med cruise would be an easy way to see a lot of European destinations, although my first choice there probably would be to fly into somewhere like Frankfurt and drive around. I like the ability to just stay somewhere and lose track of time.

This cruise thang has captured my attention. I've got a cruise planned at Thanksgiving off Lake Tahoe. May make another offshore jaunt around Halloween at Lake Las Vegas and Lake Mead.
