  • Belmont thread

After hearing that George Soros is involved, now there's plenty of reasons to root against Justify.

I like Hofburg. Don't know his political beliefs though.

Some of the stuff in that article is making my head spin.

The quote from the guy about wanting to be in the winner's circle.

So they won't be because they sold controlling interest, or they will be?

The whole financial arrangement is confusing and it seems Soros' group isn't being forthcoming about the details.

        Hofburg?

        Sounds liberal.

Though it is Cheap's top selection in EOG's Triple Crown contest.

Just took a quick look at the early races. Morning line favorites Mask and Abel Tasman could be vulnerable in the 2nd and 3rd races. I'm going to go against both.

Mask is 5/2 and Abel Tasman is 8/5.

                I'll be watching and wagering.

I have to think American Pharaoh's Triple Crown win three years ago has taken some of the wind out of the sails for Justify. The long drought was largely just randomness, as horses like Real Quiet and Smarty Jones happened to lose very close finishes where they did most of the work, and were likely the best horses. Spectacular Bid stepped on a nail the night before the race. Horses like Risen Star and Point Given won the final two legs; Risen Star was arguably the best horse in the Derby that year, but raced extremely wide and still ran 3rd.

If Justify wins, it will be big, but not nearly as big as it would've been if American Pharaoh had failed.

Charlton Baker bringing the 2016 True North winner, Joking, back to this year’s edition off nearly a two year layoff. And he’s only 6-1 on the morning line. Crazy.

The scratch of American Gal, who ran today, makes things a lot easier for Abel Tasman. If you are Belmont, why card two graded stakes for fillies/mares at middle distances on the dirt one day apart? Makes no sense.

Other than Limousine Liberal in the Met Mile can we keep political BS at least out of the few good threads here the horse racing ones.

Watching the Belmont races today on the NYRA app on Apple TV with HD on the 55” tv and having a cocktail.
Enjoying the show and broadcast quality very much.

Why can’t other tracks like Keeneland Churchill Woodbine or Santa Anita broadcast this way?
