All week I have ben hearing experts with different opinions on this matter. Some say it will happen, others say no way. In my opinion, it won't be an nba team, as mr. stern seems dead against it no matter what. I can see a baseball team perhaps going there. Thoughts?

I heard A.I say that if we have one in Miami and LA, Vegas can't be much worse

NBA and NFL have enough trouble keeping their players out of trouble as it is. I don't see Selig as being in favor of it. Isn't he the one who demonized Pete Rose for Gambling? My vote is a big NO

i wonder if people would actually buy a ticket and go to the games or just bet on them and watch it at the sportsbook.

I don't think it will happen but I wish it would. I think the home team - Vegas teamd - would have a better than average home field/court advantage. Visiting teams would come into town, party a bit, and not have all their steam for the game. I'd love this angle as a capper.

Before the Twins new stadium bill passed in Minnesota Las Vegas was one of the city's on the list where they might end up.

a team in Vegas makes a lot more sense then some of the cities that currently have pro sports teams.

Absolutely not! Maybe an NHL team might be able to venture into vegas though

I would like to see it

People are going bet on teams no mattter what the city, and if a team/players are going to cheat for profits they are going to do it anywhere, doesn't necessarily have to be in Vegas....... Which means some of the reasons it hasn't happened yet are irrelevant......

clearly david stern is becoming open to the idea. many players already train there in the off season. it is only a matter of time.

Re: Poll-Will Las Vegas Have a Pro Sports Team Within the Next 5-7 Years?

It won't be long. I think 3-4 years is probably the right time frame, just enough to build a new arena. Baseball here would be the worst though, I can't see that happening. I think that one was negotiating leverage. Baseball depends on TV market and large population to fill seats 81 times. NBA and NHL do not. NHL makes the most sense, but the mayor and Steve Wynn love hoops.

These people who try to predict success on minor league teams are absolutely kidding themselves. The local hockey team has NEVER been on TV and has no radio coverage. If you want to follow them you have to either go see them live or listen to an online broadcast. They still average about 5,000 fans a game even though I would guess half the city has never heard of them. Not bad for a team 2 levels removed from the NHL.

The baseball team, the 51s play in a lousy part of town and also get no TV coverage, though they do get regular radio. I mean either of these teams could be playing for a league championship and most people here would have no idea because they won't be televised. So how do you compare that to a major league sports situation?

they shouldn't

TERRIBLE IDEA

but having said that i think they WILL get one

nhl or nba - lean to NHL right now and for the nhl it would be the BEST move they could make

It is getting to the point where Vegas is getting too big and the pro sports will not be able to keep teams out of there.............Gambling or not...........
